Sienna Miller condemns age gap double standards

Does anyone actually give a st? I'm not even sure who Sienna Miller is. Congrats on the pregnancy though.

It’s not obvious (to me) why the beeb thinks this is news. Certainly not front page stuff (currently story number 5 on their news website).

Is it just how the BBC feel they have to operate these days? Pretty woman, celebrity etc to garner clicks? Seems a bit of a shame if that’s the case.

Or is it the beginning of a series focussing on a related matter perhaps?

In any case I haven’t read the Vogue article this is hanging off so don’t have much to say on Sienna’s points.

I can sort of see some of her point. Society (not the patriarchy), is more judgemental if the woman is the older partner. Can't really see a solution, apart from offering thoughts and prayers, and spouting #bekind on socials.

On the bright side, her relationship falls within my personal "half plus seven" rule, so its all good from me.

The irony here is that when a 41 year old man cops off with a 27 year old woman everyone tears him a new one for being a "typical man just after young stuff" while if a 41 year old woman cops off with a 27 year old man there's a ticker tape parade and all the faminists are out screaming "you go girl". There are double standards, but not in the direction that she's making out.

I just clicked on BBC news and it's hard to find. I think that's how it all works. New stories are more visible and just slide down the page as minutes pass.

but on recent news Lenny is going a bit Yorkshire DJ and hopsital worker in his approach. With the latest news that he's been seen out with Kate Moss's daughter, who he also dated.

Think how many films you see with an a significant age gap between the leading man and leading woman and think how many times it's an older woman with a significantly younger man.

Which is interesting and also part of my point. Sienna’s appeal seems to be generating clicks. Which is very lovely. But she hasn’t even spoken to the BBC. The Beeb are reporting on Ms Miller’s views as published in a Vogue article. I guess I’m just out of step but could understand it more if she was holding contentious views on more “newsy” stuff - like the Gaza situation or similar. Can’t help thinking it moderately curious they have it so boldly in the News section.

Mildly curious while I’m making a cuppa. That’s all.
