Why am I not surprised the 3 year cruise got cancelled?
Seems like the outfit behind the idea bit off a bit more than it could chew & didn't actually have a ship. It did seem too good to be true when first advertised:

Find the thought of 3 weeks on a cruise ship pretty hideous never mind 3 years.

Love the excuse

"Something something investors, middle east unrest, oh and we can't afford the ship.... we promise you that's not because we've already spent a big chunk of the deposits on Prada trainers and Lamborghini Uruses"

We have done loads of cruises over the years and loved them, although we did choose adult cruises so we didn't have to put up with screaming kids running around the place.

We got to see some truly wonderful places, a few of which we then visited as a 'proper' holiday.

Lol. This does seem to be a ripe target market to swindle.

American ‘fake it until you make it’ culture is still alive and kicking then.

Hard to believe people still continue to make such enormous life commitments without doing even basic due diligence.

I was reading an article about a remote IT worker who lived full time on cruise ships.

He's worked out it cost him way less to do that than rent a flat in the US. He said it was a great experience.

Considering how easily something like this could fail a fraction of the way in it's probably a mercy that it happened now.

Either buy somewhere on The World, which had to be bought out by its own occupants before it started working properly, or stick to professionals.

And three years and you have to pay extra for the meals despite paying hundreds of thousands at a minimum? I would be fishing off the sides and feeding others for free in disgust.

I assumed if it wasn't an outright scam it was being organised by the people who thought Fyre Festival was a good idea.

Who books a cruise with someone who doesn't even have a boat?

A fair chunk of people actually spend most of their retirement on cruises.

They're cheaper than retirement homes, they have more staff ready to help you, and 24 hours access to a doctor.

Which you will probably need due to norovirus, covid or worse!

I cannot imagine much worse than a cruise - sailing yachts in nice weather on the other hand gets my vote.

I assume there's some sort of policy to show you the gang plank if you're tying up tens of staff 24/7 and soiling yourself at every captain's dinner.

You do seem to have a vested interest in this article though.

Anyway, out of all the cruises we have been on, not once have we ever caught any kind of illness thankfully, although covid was after our time on them.

I think there's quite a few retired people doing the same as it's cheaper and nicer than a nursing home.

Imagine being incarcerated on a ship full of techies and pensioners. I'm going to have nightmares tonight.

Maybe his tastes are somewhat...specialist. has he told Wayne Rooney? Like fish in a barrel for him, I would think.
