Piers Morgan NAMES the two senior royals
Discussion
I’m not going to name them here but Piers Morgan has named the Royals named in Omid Scobie‘a book who he claims questioned the skin color of Prince Archie. The names are all over social media so no surprises.
It’s been suggested the questions were founded in racism. In my own experience, my very diverse group of friends would talk openly about this. My god daughter has a Filipino parent and a “white” parent. Her cousins were also from multi race parents with each one taking on dominant characteristics of one parent. There was curiosity and excitement.
This may not be an example of racism but could be the definition of unconscious bias.

Storm in a tea cup, one of the royals wasn’t even talking along the lines of anything that could be construed as racists and the other was asking a question which is most likely curiosity not racism. Like u said millions of parents have thought and said it before.

Its interesting that MM and the spare were already distancing themselves from this book before the 'Dutch' version came out with the names of KC and PC as the two 'racists'.
How will the author react now the names are out?
How will MM and spare react - denial? Further distancing? Silence?
None of this really matters for as the Late Queen put it very succinctly, 'Recollections will vary'.
I suspect the only real effect is MM and the spare will scarcely be seen near the Royal Family and will fade off into their ever woke, ever re-invention, ever grifting, ever hypocritical future.

I just can’t understand how anyone could think that wondering about a child’s skin tone is racist. You wouldn’t assume that wondering about a child’s sex was sexist would you? Maybe you would…..people are weird.
My sister is blond with pale skin and is married to an Iraqi and their daughter is a nice blend of both of them. We all definitely discussed what their child would look like. Nobody could possibly have thought that was something that shouldn’t be discussed.

Shouldn't that be POW? You'll send social media into shrieking meltdown using that sort of terminological inexactitude.bhstewie said:
There's clearly a difference between "Marvellous I wonder what.." and "Oh god what if...".
This is spot on and which one people think it is will depend on how they view the royals. In reality if it can't be proven they said the worse version then we should assume they said the harmless version. Nowadays they will have to prove themselves innocent when there is no evidence to prove they are guilty.phil-sti said:

It's fairly obvious he's a mouthpiece but so far there's been total denial of who his sources are, so for all intents he's just pulled it all out of his arse and it's as worthy of debate as a rant from some bloke down the pub.
The only entertainment would be if people started seeing legal claims over this stuff & they know it's unlikely the targets will sue regardless of what's said.
And Morgan is a worm who'll grab onto anything to get attention.

My eldest got engaged to a woman of different ethnic appearance. To celebrate, I took my wife to a national Trust cafe. No expense spared.
Sitting at an adjacent table was a couple of the same ethnic mix but the 'other way around'. They had two of the most delightful-looking kids you could imagine. My wife and I then discussed what our grandchildren might look like. We approached the couple and chatted to them about our son and his choice of bride, and said we hoped our grandchildren looked as lovely as theirs. And they do.
I must look out for the couple to apologise for my racist remarks.

Years ago I dated a girl who was half Indian, half Malaysian. I'm mixed race but predominantly white. There were long discussions about what colour any kids would be. I don't see anything wrong with sensible adult discussions & think that fear/accusations of racism have stifled legitimate debate.

Short of a recording I don't know how you get beyond "Recollections will vary".
Harry rebuked Tom Bradby in a recentish interview when he began one of his questions with 'its been x number of months/years since you/Meghan claimed on Oprah that there were instances of racism'Short of a recording I don't know how you get beyond "Recollections will vary".
Harry interrupted him and said that he and Meghan hadn't said it was racist, that that had just been implied by the media. His own opinion was that there was no racist intent.
I think they deliberately floated it out there on Oprah with no real clarity when they were at their most hostile and now want to distance themselves from it and downplay it. It may be too late for that now.

It seems to have been bait for the media but they used the word "Concerns" when talking about skin tone. If it was curiosity or excitement it would not be heavily implying racism. "Concerns" though is only one way.
Unless the concerns were about the kid turning out white and ginger.Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
