Right to me this jsut devalues the system,
Amber wind and rain (for flooding) I can understand but Amber cold to me just makes it more likely people will ignore actual dangerous situations.
Its like the authorities have had some success with calling out storms as Amber and now jumping on everything.

It's a separate system provided by the UK Health Security Agency and aimed at the health care system. It's not part of the Met Office's public National Severe Weather Warning Service that you're mixing up with. It's just thresholds to trigger various preparations for extra hospital admissions, staff shortages and other contingencies linked to hot/cold weather.

Fair enough so why is it "published" then which makes us think it is related to the weather ones. obviously to trigger converstations and links like this. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/weather-health-alertin...

I guess if it isn't 'published' no-one would know it was 'in force' which would make it pretty pointless as a health warning.Hill92 said:

This. And it's a sad fact that the vulnerable in society are in such deep fuel poverty that the warning is there to advise the most desperate people to only heat the room in the house they spend the most time.https://www.gov.uk/guidance/weather-health-alertin...
"Agostinho Moreira de Sousa, the head of extreme events and health protection at UKHSA, said it was important that people with medical conditions and elderly people tried to heat the rooms where they were spending the most time."
Yellow - normal weather it’s winter after all.
Amber - bit colder still can’t get the sledge out for the kids.
Red - now we’re talking proper winter weather get the sledges, gloves, hat, double socks out and enjoy. (Not you old folks though)
What happens when it’s 5ft of snow? Is there a red *** triple red.

Yellow snow means (should mean) put the big coat in the car, maybe bit of amateur prepping, prepare to tuck your trousers in your socks stuff.
We’ve yellow around here tomorrow.
Don’t eat it. We’ve yellow around here tomorrow.
