I suppose you could argue they were saving air miles by having the meeting at the same time hehe

It would probably be prudent for the boss of the Financial Fair Play authorities to avoid any backroom meetings at COP28 too (with apologies to non-footy fans).

If COP were serious about the climate, they'd stick to virtual meetings.

My only surprise is that anyone is surprised.

Who could ever have seen something like this happening?

Middle east country in wanting to sell/look for oil shocker, the greenwash must be pretty thick on some peoples glasses.

Surely a significant part of the ethos ought to be leading by example?

They are - important people like them get to fly to do important things. Others shouldn't.

Exactly and since we are going to need reliable sources of gas and oil for decades while we transition, it makes perfect sense to deal with it at the same summit as we can't do one without the other - yet again more blinkered, sensationalist, 'reporting' from MSM

France24 this morning reporting that 70 thousand delegates are flying in to attend this jamboree about saving the planet

That’s just madness

Meanwhile

https://www.independent.co.uk/climate-change/news/...

King Charles, the Prime Minister and foreign secretary are all attending separately and being provided with individual private planes

Surely I’m not the only one who is appalled by this ?

FINALLY - something she says I agree with

"Campaigner Greta Thunberg has said these UN climate summits are just "blah, blah, blah" - meaning all talk and no action."

Yes this whole COP whatever, remember the one in Glasgow which resulted in very little except a lot of extra aeroplanes flying about is a total sham.
Never heard of video link?

It's a complete piss take and shows the climate bandwagon up for exactly what it is. The most concerning bit is the utter contempt this shows for the masses and how they (the 'delegates') can't or won't see how it might look.

I reckon the delegates should have sailed to cop by traditional dhow, provided by UAE leadership.
As for the 70k visitor numbers - seems obscene to me, given the subject at hand...
