Study: clever people were more likely to vote Remain in EU!
Discussion
Not sure how much it means, as the vote wasn't really an intellectual issue. The intellectual aspects of Brexit were so complex that it was impossible for even experts to agree on what the best course of action would be.
As such, much of the campaigning, and voting, was done at an emotional level.

At least you take it in good humour It's one of those things where some people get awfully defensive about facts.

Anyone who voted against is thick- I've been hearing this a lot, but only from the remain side.
If the remainers want to persuade people to their point of view then insults & denigration are not a good method.
The person that did the study was on the radio earlier explaining that cognitive abilities isn’t really about intelligence and that this one question was a small part if a bigger study. If the remainers want to persuade people to their point of view then insults & denigration are not a good method.
He wasn’t calling anyone thick.
Doesn’t make great headlines that I suppose
I often find that "clever" people are quite poor at actually doing anything practical and physical. They often occupy professions that are non productive and rely on others to provide them with food, transport and the day to day life support they enjoy.
So, yes, I'm sure "clever" people did vote to remain, they are insulated from a lot of the problems and frustrations that the EU "clever" people provided via our own "clever" people in Govt.

There was never a vote to join the EU after all so is it any wonder the majority voted to leave.
TX.
There us unlikely to be a vote when you go back in either TX.
Giving too many idiots a referendum has proven to be the failure it was predicted to be so it’s just a matter of time for the u-turn.

A total disaster as predicted

Sounds like they probably do higher paid jobs then and were probably happier with their lot. So happier people voted remain? The headline should be "people who *think* they are clever"
Still gives the usual suspects another opportunity to whinge about losing the referendum and post the usual drivel, interspersed with words like "catastrophe" and "disaster"
Still, gives then a little bit of pleasure in their miserable lives I guess.

I would have thought one aspect that leave voters were openly criticised for is playing out in real time.
The migration across Europe appears to be getting worse such that the EU political landscape is favouring parties with strong border control policies.
If it continues it may be that the UK was ahead of the curve.
The Dutch election results today, and open rioting in Dublin with those protesting appearing to believe its a migrant. These type of stories seem to back up the swing to the right.

Point proven. The most educated people don't make the best leaders - they may become brilliant scientists, historians, or direct brilliant movies - but you wouldn't necessarily want them to be in charge of people. The career politicians straight out of PPE from whatever university seem to produce the useless bunch of politicians we have now.James6112 said:

'Clever' people also locked us down during Covid. Maybe 'gut feeling' counts when it comes to making non-mathematical decisions.
Point provenThe clever people were right on both counts
