I used to have RR filed in my mind as "just another Leftie Loonie" when she was working with Ed Milliband, a category that included Jess Phillips and many others. I'd imagined RR was similarly on board with Corbyn but it seems she wasn't actually a member of his Shadow Cabinet. Under Starmer's leadership she was subsequently promoted to Shadow Chancellor.

Is it my imagination or is she starting to look like a credible member of Starmer's team and a significant player in UK politics?

I like her. She'd do a better job as leader than Starmer IMO.

No doubt she'll never be acceptable to some of our more dedicated die hard Tory PH'rs, but I think she'll be a pretty steady hand on the UK plc tiller. She can certainly hold her own in the commons.

She destroyed Hunt today in both facts and delivery.

She will be our next Chancellor, and Hunt will struggle to even keep his seat.

She comes across well, and level headed. Definitely a potential Labour leader of the future.

Agree with this. She seems to have grown into the role and communicates much better nowadays (maybe media training?). Then again it's not difficult to look good against the current shower of incompetent clowns.

Supposedly he's going to leave anyway.

Didn't George Osborne speak well of RR recently? Possibly a double edged sword.

She's well regarded in the party and by the City (or at least people I have spoken to).

I think she'll be influential in the reconfigured shadow cabinet, after some of the awkward squad vacated over Palestine. Gives Starmer a chance to put in place more centrist MP's.

She certainly comes across well, but one thing I don't get about her, Starmer and labours fully costed policies is when asked how are they going to pay for these fully costed policies and the other things they are going to do the labour politicians tell us they don't know what the finances are going to be like?

I think the key question at election time will simply come down to whether Starmer/Reeves look more credible than Sunak/Hunt.

That's not looking like a high bar, is it?

It's a bit like in the old days when you had to choose between Whitbread Trophy or Tankard. We never did decide which was the least worst.

Reeves is another Hogwarts graduate ex-banker married to a bureaucrat.

I listened to her speak today and it was like a lady ranting down the pub who kept repeating herself, where was the gravitas and substance?

Looks like we'll be voting turd vs poo again next year.

That’s quite interesting actually, I wonder if there has been much cross party credit being given when due before?

That's painfully close to the truth.
