Activists have smashed the glass casing holding the Stone of Destiny at Edinburgh Castle.

The campaigners, from the environmental group This is Rigged, attacked the glass as part of a protest demanding action on the cost of living crisis.

Police were called to the scene on Wednesday morning where they arrested two women and a man in connection with the damage.

Given the window breaking topic on this forum - they’ll get away with it. The UK is an absolute embarrassment.

Oh the irony: eco-mentalists protesting about the cost of living crisis.

They were chucking paint at Sainsbury’s today https://news.stv.tv/west-central/four-women-arrest...

And last week some of them were in court for disrupting the UCI World Cycling road race where the Sheriff gave 3 of them admonitions and one a £250 fine https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-67361718

No doubt more stunts are on the way.

How do these people afford the time to dick about 'campaigning'.

Wish I could go smash some stuff and still pay the bills.

I really hope so. They’re all tossers, but whilst lobbing paint at supermarkets or blocking roads or whatever is essentially just antisocial tw*ttishness, attacking historic articles which belong to the nation is utterly abhorrent, and the powers-that-be have a duty to everyone to ensure that the distinction is clear. I hope they get locked up and duly ‘re-educated’ in a robust manner whilst inside.

I refer the honourable gentlemen to the case of the crown vs This Is Rigged at Falkirk Sheriff Court referenced above.
3 admonitions and a £250 fine for stopping a televised international sports event for an extended time.
