Looks like some progress with new laws.

A new Sentencing Bill will require whole-life sentences for the worst murders

A Criminal Justice Bill will force criminals to appear in the dock for their sentencing hearings

An Investigatory Powers (Amendment) Bill will give law enforcement agencies more access to certain personal data and make tech companies clear security features with the Home Office

UK venues will have to draw up anti-terror plans under Martyn's law

A Leasehold and Freehold Bill will ban leaseholds for new houses, but not new flats, in England and Wales. It will also increase the standard lease extension period to 990 years

Licences for oil and gas projects in the North Sea to be awarded annually, under the Offshore Petroleum Licensing Bill

Pledges to strengthen consumer rights online and tackle fake reviews are in the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Bill

A Tobacco and Vapes Bill will deliver plans for a phased ban on smoking, and introduce restrictions on the packaging and marketing of vapes

The Football Governance Bill will establish a regulator for the top five tiers of English professional football

Public bodies will be banned from boycotting Israel under the Economic Activities of Public Bodies (Overseas Matters) Bill

I think a few of those are welcoming, although there are a load more. Just thought I would post a snippet.

Chucky couldn't have sounded more bored if he'd tried. An awful example of public speaking.

Sounded to me like he was embarrassed to be reading dog-whistle crap from this bunch of incompetent chancers.

Even I would have to say that it’s all thin gruel, and yet I don’t expect that an incoming Labour Government will be any better.
I watched a two part television program last week investigating the issues of homelessness and sub standard housing that people are expected to live in. This Government has failed to address the problems, as have many previous Governments.

Firstly it was desperately dull. King is paid a lot of money you'd think he'd other his arse to try and read it with a bit of presence?

Aside from that, in a year that could see a GE it really was as uninspiring as Rishi himself. Most of it has already been trailed and it wasn't interesting or inspiring then. I think most opponents will say this is a government on borrowed time with nothing to offer and I have to say I agree with them.

Agree it did look very thin. Early GE perhaps?

Dunno about you, but dull and boring government/leadership is my strong preference. No scandals, no excitement, no drama. Just doing their jobs.

It is good to see a sentencing reform, with giving powers to the judge to force the convicted to sit in at their sentencing.

I never knew they had the choice not to.

Time for a remake of the King's Speech?

Charles: Can you help me with my public oration?
Lionel Logue: Ha ha, f**k no.

Or perhaps he was embarrassed because he realises that this ridiculous archaic and pointless spectacle has no place in the 21st century. It cost over a quarter of a million in Lords' allowances alone, while we have people sleeping in tents. It's criminal.

I really believe that all of that tradition cr*p holds the UK back by distracting people into thinking that it contributes anything at all. When they do up Parliament they should have a total refresh and take us into the 21st century.

Mr Sunak asserted a few weeks ago that the Tories were the party of change… well that changed pretty quick. Except in the area of London Pedicab regulation - a topic at the top of the agenda across the country.
