Friends actor Matthew Perry has died aged 54 after being found "unresponsive" in his hot tub.

Wow, sad news. I wasn't the biggest fan of Friends but it was an iconic show for sure back in the day.

Sad news. He was excellent as Chandler, but definitely had some demons he was constantly fighting.

RIP

Bloody hell !
I wasn’t expecting this news first thing on a Sunday morning.

I wonder what the CoD was? Heart attack? OD?

I read somewhere drowning… could be a case of drowning in a bath. Sad news thought he was funny but agree he seemed to have some demons to battle with… RIP

Apparently found in his hot tub ...

Cause ?

1. Natural causes - ie heart attack
2. A Witney Houston style exit
3. Fault in tub and maybe electrocution

I'd reckon on 2

Very sad news to wake up to.

You only have to read his book or some interviews to know some of the struggles he’d been facing with addiction.

His colon exploded at one point eek.

RIP Mr Perry/Mr Bing, thank you for all the laughs. Here’s to the king of sarcasm bow

Gutted to hear this. Very skilled comedy actor but clearly had an epic struggle with his addiction.

Sad news, I'm kind of getting used to my childhood stars dying, but Matt Perry seemed too young to worry about & passed the worst of his addiction problems. I thought we'd be having Friends reunions for decades.

Sad news.

Never realised he was so close in age to me.

Wasn't a massive fan of Friends but it was something to have on in the background or watch on the afternoon.

He clearly had some demons and he did look like he was still struggling a bit on the reunion episode.

Chandler was a fictional character though, reading out lines written for him by a team of comedy writers. Admittedly, Perry pulled it off as a natural, but you shouldn’t conflate the two as one.

I’m of an age that I grew up with Friends being a regular watch on TV. Always enjoyable. All the actors seemed to work so well together.

Even my young kids watch Friends now and love it - one of the those rare grown up programmes that has multi generational appeal because it was a feel good programme that was not offensive.

I thought it was very sad to see how vague he was on the Friends reunion. He seemed lost and almost unaware. I remember feeling very sad for him.

So many people of my era and older passing away now, each one makes me feel that little bit older.

Never met him but he came across as a funny and nice guy. RIP.

If you watch interviews of him before addiction you’d realise how sharp and dry witted he was in his day. He had the ‘it’ factor on hand but was also able to transfer that wit to script in an incredible way. The kind of fame he experienced in his hay day would have been difficult to deal with.

Just so you are aware, most of the lines were written by him. He would attend writers' meetings and adjust his character's lines which generally made it through.

He'd said he never watched the show because all he could see in his performances was whichever drug he was on at the time of filming and that there were three full years where he doesn't remember anything of making the show.

I was very much one of those who'd roll their eyes when celebs told tales of how being wealthy & loved by millions didn't solve your problems, but guys like Matthew Perry really drove it home. I certainly have less time for the moralistic "addiction is a choice" types I encounter these days.

This.

I read his recent book and basically everyone told him to audition for chandler because he’d be basically playing himself
