Naive and simplistic. People find all sorts of reasons to hate other people. Religion is just one badge they use.
Agreed. I always find it odd when people blame religion for causing so many conflicts when the truth is, if religion wasn't a thing people would just find some other reason to start wars.

People are indeed total bds when they want to be, its a different beast though when the behaviour is being justified by "being righteous" and done in the name of god.
That's what we are talking about here, not general folk being bds.
If he had shouted "your hair is st and I hate your coat" then stabbed the teacher at his old school this would have been in the category of being a wrong un, not a religious crime, terrorism even, which is what we are talking about and discussing.

but the point is, getting rid of religion wouldn't put a stop to these atrocities being carried out,
it's just what's used to try and justify their actions,

Well, we aren't getting rid of religion any time soon...so there's no point discussing it.
Imagine there's no heavenIt's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us, only sky
Imagine all the people
Livin' for today
Ah
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion, too
Imagine all the people
Livin' life in peace
You
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Shall we carry on discussing the event or shall we just decide to not mention this again because even if we had no religion it would still happen ?
I don't understand the point being made in relation to the context of the discussion about an actual event that has actually happened and not some hypothetical alternate reality where there is no religion but people are still being dicks to each other.
