frown RIP to the teacher

The attacker shouted "Allahu Akbar", or "God is greatest", during the attack, police told the AFP news agency. The school attacker was of Chechen origin and on the national security register, according to the police.

They will all be coming out the woodwork now, emboldened by the recent events.

Pricks.

I think France has its own set of problems on that front.

Bloody depressing that some Jewish schools over here are closing and warning pupils to be careful outside of school and advising things like removing school blazers.

The world would be a much safer, happier place without religion, specifically Islam.

Naive and simplistic. People find all sorts of reasons to hate other people. Religion is just one badge they use.

Yet all they want is tolerance from others. It is, after all, the religion of peace.

yes,

I always find it odd when people blame religion for causing so many conflicts when the truth is, if religion wasn't a thing people would just find some other reason to start wars.

But not necessarily for stabbing teachers.

But starting wars and murdering people because of different sky fairies is quite incredible when living today and not in the dark ages. Importing more and more sky fairy opponents will only make it worse.

I believe the perpetrator indicated his motivations at the time of the stabbing. He did this pretty vocally so I think we are allowed to speculate in this case the religion he is involved in was a big factor in his decision to carry out this act.

People are indeed total bds when they want to be, its a different beast though when the behaviour is being justified by "being righteous" and done in the name of god.

That's what we are talking about here, not general folk being bds.

If he had shouted "your hair is st and I hate your coat" then stabbed the teacher at his old school this would have been in the category of being a wrong un, not a religious crime, terrorism even, which is what we are talking about and discussing.

Not helped when an Islamic leader asks for global jihad today... https://nypost.com/2023/10/11/ex-hamas-chief-calls...

Yes,
but the point is, getting rid of religion wouldn't put a stop to these atrocities being carried out,

it's just what's used to try and justify their actions,

Well, we aren't getting rid of religion any time soon...so there's no point discussing it.

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us, only sky

Imagine all the people
Livin' for today
Ah
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion, too

Imagine all the people
Livin' life in peace
You
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

So what next for this thread then ?

Shall we carry on discussing the event or shall we just decide to not mention this again because even if we had no religion it would still happen ?

I don't understand the point being made in relation to the context of the discussion about an actual event that has actually happened and not some hypothetical alternate reality where there is no religion but people are still being dicks to each other.

I think the west needs to have a serious think about the extreme values that are being imported.
