Thing is, will be used as evidence as to how terrible cyclists are, when it was some knobhead on a bike on the pavement. I managed to do 20 miles earlier without incident.
It’s not one big club, it’s individuals and don’t support that kind of riding and attitude any more than anyone else, get on the road and observe the rules and lights !
It’s really not hard, keep out of the at where you can, don’t jump red lights and be courteous whist doing your best to ensure your safety and don’t go out of your way to antagonise people.

Says everything about attitude to cyclists and mental bias. People are angry about the cyclist but not bothered by the DPD drivers parking, yet far more pedestrians are killed or seriously injured by people driving on pavements every year than all injuries caused by cyclists anywhere.

Also not helped by the DPD driver parking on the pavement and calling him a dick. Yes he shouldn't be on the pavement, but DPD driver shouldn't have been there either. I'm a cyclist and I support riding on pavements when it's signposted/allowed but that tt deserved what he got. That pavement was not appropriate for pavement riding, not least because of the speed he was going. As for parking on the pavement... where else is the driver supposed to park to do his deliveries? It's not like he's going to be there for long.

It’s weird how much anti cyclist sentiment there is, goes beyond the minor inconvenience bikes actually cause, seeing someone get badly hurt and people being glad is strange.

Fact is, the van was there, and the cyclist should have taken that fact into consideration on his approach.People cycle on the pavement, people park on the pavement, in the real world the rules get bent or downright broken to make things happen.
If you don't want delviery vans on the pavement, get ready to have them block the road for 10 minutes at a time while they deliver stuff.
If you don't want cyclists on the pavement ever, then get ready to be stuck behind them at 10mph everywhere.
Reasonable cyclists bend the rules and with a bit of consideration, conflict is minimised.
That cyclist clearly was a dick.

Exactly how many pedestrians are killed by people driving on pavements in a year?EmailAddress said:
Also needs to learn the law...
Rule 244
You MUST NOT park partially or wholly on the pavement in London, and should not do so elsewhere unless signs permit it. Parking on the pavement can obstruct and seriously inconvenience pedestrians, people in wheelchairs or with visual impairments and people with prams or pushchairs.
i.e Not actually illegal.
Also...
You may stop to load or unload...
What a bellend the cyclist is. around, and found out
What the driver did was, of course, illegal. There is a choice of offences. The footway is called a footway for a good reason. It is that part of the road put by for the use of foot passengers [pedestrians]. It seems van drivers do not car about pushing pedestrians into the road for no reason. If you report one of them for one of the offences they've committed, their excuse will be that they didn't want to inconvenience other vehicles. Pedestrians are, it seems, beneath contempt. I used to ticket them with some, although not much, hope that they might consider others in future.Rule 244
