Apologies for the Wail link but here goes: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12591757/...

Indian billionaire in a Lamborghini sideswipes Ferrari in mid-overtake, resulting in death of both Ferrari occupants. Video of the incident (but not, thankfully, the Ferrari aftermath) at that link.

Appears to be sadly a simple case of all cash and no ability to look in a mirror…

I'd posit the Ferrari driver was (slightly) more to blame. They were all driving like complete whoppers.

Yes, looked like an example of 'must keep up, we are in convoy'. Great example of why convoy driving is unwise.

Was it some kind of Gumball rally race?

Yes they were all driving like dicks. But the lambo pulled in behind the van, then pulled out without looking in his mirrors.

I don’t know the road markings in the area, but that’s a solid white line along there, so I suspect none of them should have been crossing it?

Horrible way to die, stuck screaming in an overturned car as it burns.

i

DM article says it was the Sardinia Supercar Experience event, so probably intended to be a legal drive not some sort of race. They weren't going fast in the video either, just stupid.

There's longer video around

Lambo overtakes video car and moves back in narrowly avoiding a biker coming the other way and then is clearly itching to overtake the van. Then ferarri tries to power past the video car the lambo and the van in one go - mental.

Having seen the video, I must applaud the camera car driver. He could have quite easily been enraged, but he held back to allow them through, and created space just before the incident.

They are all to blame, it's just a shame people have lost their lives.

The biker must have crapped himself. Terrible driving by the lambo driver.

Lambo was driven by an Indian. I’ve seen the way they drive in India. He was doing the same. Shockingly bad.

I’d heard the Ferrari was rented? Not really billionaire behaviour is it?

Can’t stand these idiotic events. Everyone driving like s, fk about and find out seems to be the order of the day here.

The billionaire was driving the Lamborghini, not the Ferrari.

The article did mention the following:

Daily Wail said:
If tourists travel in their own car, the trip costs £10,409. A multi-day trip in a rental Ferrari SF90 from the organiser can be booked for £21,515.
The video appears to be a California so maybe it was not rented.

I agree although it is perfectly safe if people know what they are doing. The problem is doing it with people you don’t know and cannot rely on to be safe.

Anyone else find convoys of supercars pretty cringey and the whole Gumball type thing quite obnoxious ?

Agreed. The Ferrari driver came piling through even though it was obvious the Lambo driver was about to pull out.

A decent driver in the Ferrari would have avoided the whole scenario with a little old fashioned observation and anticipation, and defensive driving.

The video I saw contained references to ‘NPCs’, which takes obnoxious to another level.

Yes, I have seen this ste as well, for those not into gaming, in video games an "NPC" is a "Non Player Character", i.e. a computer generated entity in the game, for instance in the game Skyrim you enter a tavern and there is a landlord who you can speak to via some predetermined questions, this is an NPC. Same as the preprogrammed cars in Forza Horizon that haven't got a Monster Energy addled teen controlling it somewhere in the world.

So, some utter stheads describe other drivers as 'NPCs' on the actual roads, i.e. those not driving like stheads in fancy cars. Thus reducing people down to being inconsequential inconveniences.

My wife nearly had a bad accident on the A34 Wilmslow bypass when a gang of chaps were racing higher end Mercedes/BMWs and squeezed between her and another car in the other lane, nearly taking them all out, aholes like that use this terminology, same ones that appear in the news having taken someone else at doing 100 plus in a 30 videoing themselves for Instagram/TikTok.

Other road users are not "NPC's", having a fast/expensive car doesn't make you any more important, driving like a , just makes you a , calling other folk "NPC" just confirms it, if there were ever any doubt.

Terrible driving there with awful consequences. People in the motor home doing nothing wrong but caught up in it. The mistake was a fatal one. Others no doubt reflecting on consequences. Too late though.

There is place and space for fast cars and driving. Sadly, skills not keeping up with the car performance.

I still say.....dashcams are out there and I don't have a problem if it makes people think twice that their driving is being recorded.

What a mess. Lives lost.

Defensive driving, don’t talk daft.

All were overtaking on a solid white line.

Lamborghini driver didn’t check mirror or over shoulder before moving across.
