The flash of light you saw in the sky was not a UFO. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.

Glad they are reporting no one hurt. Hopefully that remains the case.

There needs to be an investigation into why the lightning protection didn't help, or was there even any installed.

Ah, that'll be why the power went out for a few minutes last night then. I figured lightning had struck something, just not in such spectacular fashion! Cassington's only several miles from where I live, I didn't see any of the fireworks though.

Saved more like £50k by not installing it but the cost to fix will run into millions, plus the £50k on the proper lightning protection.

Nah it wasn’t Hal.
First thing I did when I saw that was make sure nobody had tried to blow the factory up again!

Looks like 3 out of 5 gas holders went up.

Apparently it was from a load of Chinese EV's parked outside of the Oxford Green Party headquarters.

The not so obvious news here is that there is no news.
We still seem to have laws from WW2 to stop any reporting on anything like this. The news people dont even seem to be curious.
Meanwhile if similar happens overseas they seem to linger on every detail endlessly.

BBC South have been all over it all day and on their website too. Perhaps the DG didn’t get the “keep quiet, nothing to see here” memo.

There were no deaths or injuries and damage is apparently confined to the site so hardly news on the scale of, say, an earthquake in a populated area.
