Agree, absolute idiots.
Quickly caught which was good to see.

Also, I heard that the Sheff Wed fans have raised upwards of £7k for the BL foundation since this, so some good at least.

Simply beyond words.

What the poor lad and his family went through only to be confronted with the actions of this utter scumbag beggars belief.

Hopefully he gets time in the big house and karma sorts him out as well.

Here's the slightly less Daily Mail version but it doesn't get any better.

You pretty much have to commit a massacre these days to get a custodial so I can't picture it. He should be made to look the boy's mother in the eyes and apologise and a mandatory (substantial) charity donation. Oh and rip up his season ticket

He’ll hopefully get a lifetime banning order from all stadiums.

I know I'm going to regret this, but here goes...

bhstewie, I'm generally on your wavelength regarding your contributions to certain threads in this place, but really, what's the point starting ones like this?

Its an awful story but really, everyone has already seen it in the news, no-one's going to disagree with your sentiment, and there's really nothing to debate. All it will do is draw out the "leave me in a room with the scumbag for five minutes"-type posts, and that's about it. What else are you trying to achieve by posting it here?

It might be a good idea to spend a few days away from NP&E to get some perspective on the value of these threads. Just my opinion, and you're not the only one, but you are one of a number of people who seem to live in here; it can't be healthy.

fwiw, I agree. Circle jerk posting to score 'me too' points and adding nothing of value to the forums.

I’m all for healthy debate

These particular cretins in question are beyond contemptible.

But I too see little value in highlighting their degeneracy. Nobody is going to defend them, we will just get (x) number of posts saying how knobbish they are.

However OP; you have every right to post what you wish to, this is a public forum. This is just my 2p worth.

To be honest I can see that point of view and probably agree with a fair bit of it.

I saw those two and just thought "fkers" tbh.

I'm glad my post was taken in the spirit intended, Stewie - no offence meant, quite the opposite in fact.

It's a fair point tbh, though a discussion about it can still take place about what is a fairly unusual and thankfully quite rare crime. Plus of course a thread can sometimes be created to get something off your chest: there is no particular bar it has to pass to be deemed "worthy".

I'm curious in this case what the guy has actually been charged with. Articles just say a public order offence.

The chap who made that bonfire model of Grenfell got a 10 week sentence - suspended for two years.

That was probably a reasonably close comparison in terms of outrage, though it was the sharing of the video he got prosecuted for.

In this case, the charge could well be outraging public decency perhaps (6 months mex).

To get a prison sentence for public order, I assume the judge is looking at section 4A (intentional to a specific person - 26 weeks), as section 5 harassment is a fine only.

Other parts of the public order act don't seem to fit this incident (riot, violence, affray)

This is from reading up here - first Google result
https://www.cps.gov.uk/legal-guidance/public-order...

Trust me I know my flaws biggrin

There is a human element to this as in it genuinely baffles me what goes through someone's mind that makes them do something like this but I guess we're back to your point which is they're just human garbage.

Grim.

OK, I am regretting it now - it wasn't a personal attack and I enjoy the OP's contributions to genuine debate. There are many posters who use NPE solely to provoke outrage, and maybe i should have picked one of those to make my point. Or maybe i should have just shut up, as I usually manage to resist posting in NPE for reasons of sanity. It's none of my business how people want to use the forum, or how often.

So in summary - please disregard my comments, and please do not take them as an excuse for a pile on.

Certainly interesting that you get a suspended jail sentence for that in light of some of the messages we’ve seen over the last month or so.

I think that just publicising it to all his friends and family and his local community is the best outcome we can hope for. Once he's passed the 18 months and done his CS it would have been forgotten but the internet never forgets...
