Black Brits not proud to be British

To be honest this is surprising. I have tended to assume that racism is less in the U.K. and I would have expected more positive results. A bit of a wake up call I think.
It would be interesting to see the same study done on other ethnic groups (including white British) to get a proper comparison.

The black community is actually scoring higher than university undergraduates of all races on that score if only by a few %.

Any sense of pride in this country is falling all the time, particularly in the younger generations, perhaps justifiably so.

The research found that the number of black Britons who understand themselves as British (81%) is significantly higher than the number who consider themselves “proud to be British” (49%).
That's actually 60% then? If 19% of those surveyed don't consider themselves British in the first place why would they be proud?Probably should have posted a poll thread OP as would have been interesting to see how closely that figure mirrors the feelings of the NP&E posting demographic.

Divisive rubbish in the Guardian ,
What a surprise!!!
Why does anyone take that hateful rag seriously?
Perhaps because it doesn't indulge in deflection. What a surprise!!!
Why does anyone take that hateful rag seriously?
On one of its front pages it carried an article stating how much pollution is caused by global air transport, and how air travel for the general public should be curtailed to `save the planet'
Right next to that article, on the same page was another article, exhorting its readers to fly to Hong Kong, to try out the meatballs in the (now sunk) floating restaurant there.
Or to fly to Mexico to experience the vibrant street parties there.
Or to fly to Morocco to immerse themselves in the exotic markets there.
When I pointed this out to the paper in their CiF section, they banned me from posting in CiF. Like I said rank hypocrites.

The statistic is completely meaningless without knowing what overall proportion of Brits are proud to be British.
For all we know black Brits could be twice as likely to be proud to be British than the average Brit!
Well let's ask the Guardian...For all we know black Brits could be twice as likely to be proud to be British than the average Brit!

Are whites proud to be British? I found our politics over the last 7 years to be utterly shameful and embarrassing from Brexit to Boris, so I have not been proud to be British. I am however proud of our history.
I therefore don't have issue with the statement of the title, it just doesn't need the word "black" in it.
In the wider question this relates to, The UK offers unlimited opportunity to all people of all types in politics, work, sport. We see wealth at every level. But we also have issues relating to race such as relative crime rates.
A back activists (I can' remember who) said black people spend too much time being the victim rather than looking at themselves, absent fathers being a major, recurrent problem. Strange how we always talk about "black" but no one mentions the orientals or the south asians when talking diversity.

Exactly. And besides that:For all we know black Brits could be twice as likely to be proud to be British than the average Brit!
(1) Being proud where you are born is a bit like being being proud of having brown hair. It's not something you have any influence over and therefore isn't something you can take any credit for.
(2) Being honest, is there much to be proud of about being British right now? Our leadership is relentlessly inwardly-focussed, obsessed with things I feel are at best unimportant, and seems to be doing its level best to make us irrelevant on the world stage
Honestly these days I am more likely to feel faintly embarrassed about being British than I am proud.
Not sure what I'd say if I was asked if I'm proud to be British, it's an accident of birth (place) I've done nothing towards it same for anyone else really from any country, I understand pride in an achievement for your country but not just being born.
Obviously I want the best for the country as I live here.
