The Telegraph is reporting the death of David Macallum at 90. A good age and he died of natural causes.

I loved The Man From U.N.C.L.E as a kid and of course NCIS. I remember one episode where one character asks another what Duckie looked like as a young man and was told ‘like Illya Kuryakin’!

Anyway, cool guy who lived a full life.

I concur, I also thought the line in NCIS was a good call whoever wrote that was crafty.

The Illya Kuryakin line was my first thought when I saw the thread title and The Men From UNCLE films were a favourite as a kid too. Would be interesting to rewatch them to see how they've aged as films.

Not a bad career for a guy from Glasgow.

Not too many people mentioning his appearance in The Great Escape (alongside another Scottish great)....

There is a better thread running about him in the obituaries thread in The Lounge.

Did you also know he arranged and conducted music and and his album was the origin for one of the best known Hip-Hop samples....

ISWYDT.
For some reason that show seems to be forgotten. (Possibly because it wasn't very good.)

I will remember him primarily as Illya Kuryakin, but also as Steel, opposite Johana Lumley's Sapphire.

I didn't until today. It was mentioned in the RIP thread, so I've been listening to some of his music.

Blimey; thought he was dead a long time ago.

Good age that, 90.

This popped up elsewhere today...

I remember him well in 'Colditz' in the early '70s, it was on one of the freeview channels fairly recently.
