Simple, keep a 5mm distance between the handset and your head!

I’m just about to change from a 12 pro max to a 15 pro max.

If the voices in my head abate I’ll feed back on this thread.

I remember someone in the late 90s concernedly showing me an example of how you could hold two mobile phone handsets close enough to each other such that you could cook an egg between them using the electromagnetic radiation. I simply told them that I was allergic to eggs and thus this would not affect me.

I'm sure the iPhone 12 situation will be much the same.

Wouldn't trust Apple as far as I could throw them.

I'm quite happy with the cheapest no-name Android phone I could find on alibaba.com thank you very much.

I doubt any phone including the original luggable ones would have put enough power out to even warm an egg. I've seen transmitters that'd flash-evaporate an egg, but a phone isn't one of them.

Even if these iPhones are outside the limits we're still likely talking fractions of a watt over the 3watt or whatever limit? It's not going to cook your brains or roast your chestnuts any time soon.

Agreed. It's just physics.

Welcome.

It's way outside the limit of 4w/kg - their tests came back at 5.7.

Can't see that they'd deliberately be so far over the limit, so I wonder if it was a faulty device.

Yet the body SAR 5mm away is compliant.

How many did they test? Given the things managed to get through certification everywhere when they were released and none of the stock is going to be anywhere near to new at this stage, does make you wonder about the test conditions and the device they looked at.

It can be fixed with a software update. Apparently.

Who knows. But the device is still on sale from major vendors - https://www.carphonewarehouse.com/apple-iphone-12 - so they may well have used a brand new device. Apple only pulled it from their site this week when they launched the 15.

Yes, because that device is sure to have been built and tested to safety standards that exceed anything Apple would ever do.

Seems it may have already cooked some of your brain. laugh

I don't suppose it's too difficult to update the code for the transmission to limit it's maximum power output.

Had iphones for years, love 'em! Just updated from an 8 to an 11, purely 'cos they stopped supporting the 8. What a fkin ball ache. Apple suddenly don't recognise me when trying to set it up! All ok on the 8, won't recognise me on the 11!! Won't let me change password, won't recognise current password! Had to call them to sort it out. Still waiting for a confirmation security call after 2 hours on the phone with tech support. Never had a problem before. 'Kin Useless!
