Seems ridiculously harsh to me. Is there something more to it?

I'm OK with it to be honest, 2 offences, one being against a person etc.

The sooner some football fans realise they need to calm down and stay off the pitch the better.

Nobody died, nobody was hurt, why should the tax payer have to pick up the tab?

I think this is a good thing, they need to stop getting so childishly worked up about a game and learn to behave themselves.

I think it's good too and don't see what the problem is. It was a series of decisions - to get out of his seat and go into an area he clearly wasn't supposed to be in, then argue and push. Not an accident. On TV too which might influence others.

That is an interesting point actually, I do think execution is a bit strong here, but it would save lots of tax payer money.

Sentencing has a number of purposes. To punish the offender of course but often there is an element of deterrent for other, potential criminals. I think this sentence may have a strong element of the latter. As people love to say here: play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Deterrent and sends a message.

Otherwise you'd see pissed up "fans" doing that kind of crap every week.

Being from and/or supporting Leeds is punishment enough…

There is no need for anyone to leave their seat, enter the opposition team’s technical area and remonstrate with the staff. If you can’t handle losing, don’t go to the game.

Agreed, there isn't.

A hefty fine and football ban would have been appropriate in my opinion. Costing the tax payer several thousand pounds on top is a waste of public money.

A bit of excellent news for once. Totally well deserved.
It's about time that football 'fans', brawlers, drunks, general idiots etc received much harsher treatments.

Why should the rest of us put up with it and, after many years of little or no action, just accept such issues as a new normal ?

Maybe he had previous and non custodial options weren't an option?

Maybe we should just scrap prison sentences altogether, think of the savings! silly

Yes that's possible, and I did ask originally if there was more too it.

Yep, I have no issue with this at all. Fortunately it was "only a push" and nothing worse.

Did the Spurs fan who kicked Ramsdale get off with lesser punishment?

Walked into someone's place of work and assaulted them, I have zero sympathy. May it also happen to every scumbag who dishes out the same to retail staff.
