Probably more suited to a Youtube thread, but here's Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary getting a couple of cream pies in the mush from "climate protesters" during a photocall in Brussels to highlight his petition to be allowed to fly across French airspace during air traffic control strikes.

A question.

Why have you put climate protestors in quotations?

Because that is an assumption by the reporter based on no organisation coming forward to claim responsibility for the assault.

Apologies if I’m being pedantic, but I’m not seeing that.

Good to see the important details being discussed. thumbup

However,
Reuters reporter Conor Humphries said:
They did not identify themselves or say if they were representing an organisation.

Maybe they were angry passengers after compensation due to a flight cancellation?

O'Leary complained that the pies used fake cream.

How much extra were they charged for the pies?

Shouting 'stop the pollution' might be a bit of a clue...

Is it not "sentence"?

That's the second time I've seen this word mis-spelled on PH, on two different threads.

Little gems like that are why I love this place.

Genuinely quick and witty posters like Radec, I suspect, don't need adulation.

A 'like' button would encourage grandstanding by the tedious and witless.

Misspelled and misspelt are both English terms.

Misspelled is predominantly used in 🇺🇸 American (US) English ( en-US ) while misspelt is predominantly used in British English

(used in UK/AU/NZ) ( en-GB ). In the United States, there is a preference for "misspelled" over "misspelt"

However it is never ever mis-spelled

Ryanair are amongst my least popular companies, however…
Anyone who shoves something, into someone else’s face, deserves whatever immediate action comes their way.
While it may well be something as innocuous as a cream pie, the person being assaulted has no idea at the time it happens.

I’m sure the protector thought it as a harmless way of making a point, but if Mr O’Leary responded by defending himself in any way possible, you could hardly blame him.

I had a couple of people try that with me when I was at university; apparently it was a charity "hit".

The university RAG committee tried to give me a hard time over the smacking I gave to the two little cretins involved but I explained the concept of self defence & they gave up.

People who do this sort of thing naively expect their victim to just stand there & take it. They get very surprised & upset when retaliation happens. I detest John Prescott but thoroughly supported him smacking the guy who egged him.

One of the greatest moments in British radio was when Barry McGuigan was called into the R4 Today studio to comment on that punch!

Mr O'L is promising Ukraine a huge expansion of air traffic and multiple new European routes as soon as they can open their airspace again. A splendidly generous offer.
