That would be my guess as well.

I assumed the one a few months ago was a cyber attack but dont remember seeing that reported afterwards. Perhaps they never would report that?

Someone please check that the cleaner has not pulled the 3 pin plug out of the wall to run the vacuum.

Probably a system failure. Lots of airline related stuff is actually seriously dated at the core - see SouthWest failure recently.

You jest but years ago I worked for the police and there was a lot of on prem IT in a "data centre", basically a room in the community building.

One system went done roughly the same time every night and no one could work out why, till some sys admins camped in the room and saw the cleaner come in unplug the server and plug the vacuum in.

This was the same place where one of the managers was proudly showing off a new rack of servers and walked behind them tripping over the wire that was trailing on the floor and took half the rack out.

Worrying still was the fact the 999 system was hosted in the same place. Run by absolute clowns

We were delayed last night flying Kefalonia to LGW because air traffic issues delayed the outbound flight from LGW by 2 hours.

I live a mile from Gatwick - it has been very quiet today

(Though as I'm typing this the police helicopter has just flown overhead)

Problem resolved.

It'll take a few hours before the flight schedule returns to normal.

Well done chaps. Would be interesting to know if it was a hardware failure?

My son is stuck in Luxembourg. The next flight to London that Ryanair can get him on without paying full fare is Saturday...he's going to try and get to Paris or Amsterdam to have more choice of flights. He should also be able to get a direct flight to Edinburgh.
