Interesting and deliberately inflammatory headline? Other than the fact of the orientation of the victims, appears no actual evidence that it was a homophobic attack.

Fortunately neither victim was seriously injured and both were treated in A&E and released the same evening which is a big positive for them

A total disgrace indeed. Looking at the CCTV image it's difficult to make out much by way of detail on the attacker but I can see what's behind the comment that it looks somewhat like a young female.

Regarding that general point about the far right and in terms of Europe, media reporting is skewed in terms of attribution when all acts of terror are considered, and of course I appreciate this goes beyond the specifics of homophobic hate crime. However it's indicative.

According to Europol (2023) European Union Terrorism Situation and Trend Report for 2022, despite a MSM focus on the far right, it's left-wing and anarchist groups (84%) rather than right-wing groups (5%) which are responsible for the majority of terror incidents. The remaining 11% is reported as Jihadist. This isn't the take-away one would get from MSM coverage.

Whether this incident has any far-right involvement remains to be seen, and either way it's still appalling that we still have this type of crime at all.

FWIW the Police are publicising it as "Do you recognise this man?" though of course it's not clear if that's an assumption they've made off just the CCTV or if something else means they think that.
