I've always thought it best to hire the best applicant - whatever sex or hue. Being 'diverse' for the sake of being diverse seems an odd business decision to me.

Absolutely, having spent much of my career working for American firms watching them trying to hire people from certain ethnic backgrounds starting with checking candidates on LinkedIn for photos to meet diversity quotas to meet their legal obligations always seemed crazy.

Can't 4 of the blokes say that they identify as women?

That would quash the "sexist" allegation, with the added side benefit of also pleasing the trans lobby at the same time.

The main problem remaining is how to deal with the "racism" allegation, which is surely waiting to rear its head.

The second article explains the thinking behind the all female kitchen. I'm not giving a view on whether that's right - just saying it's in there.

I remember reading an article a while back about "Indian" restaurants struggle with Chefs due to immigration rules. As someone who likes to cook, I found it a little insulting, the implication we must import chefs to cook a curry, after all you wouldn't only Brits are able to cook a roast.

I get a little annoyed with the gatekeeping around food, I would be willing to take on any Italian Nonna with a ragu although I'd be the first to admit I'm hopeless with pasta.
