Have just been catching up on the murder of Amber Gibson in Hamilton having assumed I'd misunderstood it earlier in the week.

In care and already a rape victim, she's killed at 16 by her brother during a sexual assault. Then, when her body is found by a member of the public, instead of alerting police he fondles the corpse and hides it!

Just WTAF, Hamilton. Child protection committee are investigating but my overiding feeling is of despair that so many people be so scummy.

Brother found guilty:

Previous rapist found guilty:

Guy who finds body also guilty:

And dead at 16. What a litany of tragedies from life at the bottom. frown

Stories like this really depress me frown

To make things worse the father of the guy who violated her dead body, gave a false alibi. Thankfully he has been convicted as well.

Yes, when I read it, I had to read it again as I thought I must of misunderstood as it was such a strange sequence of events.

Stephen Corrigan is just insane. Leaving aside the utter insanity of what he did he is very lucky he didn't go down for the murder. In fact, I suspect he very nearly did.

Incomprehensible.

Poor, poor girl. frown

EDIT: Seems possible/likely he had been tipped off in some way but that couldn't be proved or even didn't need to be:

"According the the Crown he had a partially dislocated shoulder with his arm in a sling, had received a Covid jag on the Friday then on the Saturday he just decided to walk from Blantyre to the very bottom of Hamilton in the snow for no specific reason. On this walk he wasn't spotted on CCTV and his phone didn't ping any mobile masts.

Once he gets to the very bottom of Hamilton he finds the body, has sexual contact with her then gets back to Blantyre again without any trace on CCTV."

as you might imagine it featured heavily in the scottish news this week. Depressing to listen to the chain of events.

They grew up in foster care. Connor Gibsons real dad is also doing time for violent sexual offences.

The whole story is so incredibly bleak and sad.

The chances of a person randomly finding a body and also being some form of necrophiliac must also be vanishingly small.

On reflection I think he wasn't a random passer by, we know he made a bee line for the body.

I suspect he's a druggy acquaintance of the brother's dealer sent to hide the body or somesuch. (For instance).

I guess he's given a no comment interview so the prosecution's theory of the case is the only one that's seem the light of day. So the truth of it may be even worse, but less bat poo mental.
