To be honest, she was never my favourite. She always seemed to wallow in misery although apparently she had a very troubled childhood so that most likely explains why she was seemingly so unhappy much of the time. However, she was still an amazing talent and will be missed.
It seems that many people who aspire to perform often have demons pushing them forward.

whilst never a huge fan of hers, Nothing Compares 2 U is one of those songs that's imprinted in my teenage memory.
instantly takes me back to 1990, school, mtv, and so many other memories.

i see this has just been uploaded to 'tube

Her obituary states that in the late 80s she sang a Bob Marley song and substituted the words to represent the abuse of children by the Catholic Church whilst tearing up a picture of the pope. She must have been 10’years ahead of her time, and for that she deserves all of our respect.
