I see that Principality Stadium in Wales has removed Delilah from the choir’s list, and asked visiting choirs not to sing it either. The reason is that the song is about a woman killed by her jealous man, and the WRU “condemns domestic violence of any kind”.

I’m as against domestic violence as anyone, but think this is missing the point entirely. The song doesn’t encourage it, it tells an emotionally charged story of it, which is a big part of what makes it a compelling song.

Isn’t that what songs and other art forms are all about, telling stories that move you in some way? If you take the line that art somehow condones or even encourages what it describes, you’d ban all crime fiction and TV shows about murder, war, adultery, etc.

I know PHers lean to the right somewhat, but does anyone think this decision is a good idea?

It's a song that tells a fictional story. People need to get a grip. The problem is, if you get rid of the most offensive thing, the next most offensive thing becomes the most offensive thing, and then the campaign starts to get rid of that too. The way things are going I can well imagine that one day, in many decades perhaps, humanity will all just be suspended in some kind of void containing nothing, lest someone be offended by something.

In today's snowflake times it's not unusual to hear stories like this.

England sing swing low sweet chariot
Scotland sing Flower of scotland
Both of which are of the same calibre as being discussed here.
They wont stop.

There's a new song that gets played on the radio all the time called something like "I'm Gonna Set Your House On Fire". It does far more to promote arson than "Delilah" does to promote domestic violence.

Of course, anyone with half a brain cell will realise both songs are completely harmless.

Could they sing Prodigy songs instead? Smack My bh Up being a rather obvious one followed closely by Firestarter.

This is the issue, if you can't have a song about a love affair gone wrong, then you can't have a book or play or film either and there must be thousands and thousands of them, I don't understand this selectively puritanical & censorious world we seem to be trying to become.

Dance with a Stranger, should that be banned now?

Old news and the fans defied the ban by singing it at the next Welsh game immediately after the ban was announced hehe

Should films and books with murders in them be banned or just songs?

If it really bothers them can't they just change the last line to give it a happy ending:

"It all worked out in the end, and she shut the door."

Songs/books/films shouldn't be banned, but, is it the right kind of song to use in this context?

It's somewhat celebratory, singing it in a sports stadium.

With those lyrics it feels a bit awks to me.

I'll go with BAN in this specific case.
