Hope everyone makes a full recovery. I wonder what happened here? Did someone lose control of their car?

Reading online that the driver had a seisure or similar. Terrible situation for all to be in. Hoping there's no deaths or serious injuries!

It's also a very tight road so you can't really go more than crawling pace.

Just seen the driver is being charged with death by dangerous driving.

If so has it been confirmed its a medical incident?

It is terrible situation regardless frown

Looking at Streetview, she’s driven through two metal fences and has still hit the building at speed. God knows how you deal with this as the parent of that child. Beyond heartbreaking.

Arrested on suspicion sorry, it was on the BBC and popped up on my phone.

Ah Ok, I figured if she'd been charged already there'd be something going on not reported but an arrest makes sense to give access to other investigatory opportunities.

Mad story. And truly the worst for any parent.

I’ve drunk in the pub there and it really is like a rural idyll right in the middle of the common, nobody has any need driving at pace around there. I can’t even begin to guess how that has happened given the situation.

A garden fence sadly something that shouldn’t have been allowed to protect children from the craziness of the world.

I wonder if it was one of those "brake/accellerator" mix-up situations you get with automatics?

I was wondering if the Land Rover Defender had autonomous emergency braking (my daughter has one of these)..It appears that they don't all have it and even when they do, they don't work brilliantly. I found this test on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZ3YBy8aSj4

Depends if the seizures were medically known, if you suffer from them you are banned from driving until clear for 12 months. I'm not saying that's the case here, but people do sometimes risk it "just this once".

The images show a st little garden style wooden fence separating kids from outside world. With the lunatics you get in and around London you’d expect more.

From the aerial shot it's literally a garden fence. I don't recall ever seeing a school without metal fencing or a solid wall of some description (and I'm out in the sticks)

It does look like a very quiet, rural road with no obvious means to pick up serious speed though, very odd.

One of the reasons I fully support closing off roads to cars outside schools.

Without knowing the facts of what's happened here , it always surprises me how quickly some parents will drive past others after dropping their kids off 'safely' right outside the gate.

Cannot imagine the shock and anguish going through the mind of the parents of that poor girl as well as the others. Simply not something you expect to hear happening to your kid frown
