Looks like they have been slotting restrained innocents as part of a policy of taking out men of fighting age.

Bit lost here.

Are we saying possible war crimes are OK or that the BBC shouldn't cover it?

I suspect its a case of blind loyalty. Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil.

It doesn't look great if its true they committed war crimes; especially as we're criticising other nations for commiting war crimes. The difference however, is that the UK has a (relatively) free press that (mostlly, but not always) holds truth to power, and eventually this kind of stuff gets exposed.

If the story linked from that article is true - interrogating, beating and executing villagers suspected of having helped the enemy - well, there was a time when the SAS’s job was to kill people who behaved like that in France.

Some Australian SAS got up to similar so seems more than likely others did the same. Ben Roberts-Smith might not have been prosecuted yet but I wouldn't bet against it.

Whole thing is a stshow.

I watched the Aussie video - it was a needless, pointless execution of someone clearly not posing a threat. Special forces however do need a secret free reign to get stuff done. At the end of the day it's (usually) war.

One might have hoped that they would remember which side the baddies were.

I think some people have a bit too lax an attitude.

Someone whose opinion I entirely trust on this based on their past service, current rank and knowledge of the details thinks Ben R-S is (direct quote) a 'fking murderer'.

There's doing a job which can get messy, and then there's war crimes.

Nonsense. They don’t deserve any secrecy when it comes to this sort of thing. Hopefully if true there are prosecutions and pensions stripped.
