Bit weird, and surprisingly little online chatter

Thoughts?

Like he said, it's a PEP (Politically Exposed Person) thing. It massively ramps up the internal aggro for the bank to provide the account. IIRC most MPs have this problem.

Ha just posted this in the GB thread

haha poor old nige- him Borris and Trump are such martyrs - everyone is out to get them - its never their fault

I see the Daily Mail is spinning it as a WOKE stroy and saying he got his account shut due to his views

BOLOKS

I work in that sector and Nigey has probably been on borrowed time due to being a PIP ,Cutts probably have a clear financial trail to him and Russian money, probaly indirectly from a sanctioned source - Hence Bye Bye Old Chummy

I bet they did it with a heavy heart due to the sulking/screaming/crying/WHYY MEE? that they knew Nige would would leave with

Also in simple terms banks are businesses , they can just decide they dont want your business anymore - But in this case I bet all of my salary for the year that they have clear doubts regarding transactions going in/out of his account, probably from Russia

Woke? I could believe it so I just looked. Woke is more important to the DM than politics now. FFS

Yup.

Have been a PEP (you don’t need to be the political one), it can be a faff, depending on circumstances.

Now he knows how a lot of Brits living in the EU feel. We lost our UK bank accounts thanks to Brexit, and it's a PITA.

All the politics and politicians they've been supporting for the last decade have failed miserably... Shouting "wokey wokey woke woke" is all they have left.

What's PIP? For those of us who aren't in the sector.

A quick google suggests it's a Personal Independence Payment for people with long term physical or mental disabilities whilst I'm sure Farage qualifies for the latter, I doubt he's able to claim given the amount he grifts.

I believe that if certain types of investigation are happening it's literally illegal for the bank involved to tell the customer why they've closed or blocked their account(s).

Not PIP but PEP (Politically Exposed Person).

Most politicians and a few people in the public eye will fall under this where a bank have to take a much much closer eye on transactions for various reasons including bank reputation, money laundering and corruption.

Wonder if Farage will set up The Right Bank

I'd consider moving to it, especially if it stays away from minority pandering

And it only took until the third post for the vitriol and bile to commence.

The premise in a lot of the reporting is that an individual or entity would be notified when their account is closed. That's not necessarily the case - ref Tipping Off laws / rules.

Just making a general comment. I have nothing to say about Farage's situ.

I think the difficulty is nobody actually knows.

Maybe the bank have just decided they want nothing to do with him for commercial reasons or maybe he's up to his neck in some stuff that means they quite literally can't tell him because it would be illegal for them to do so.

No doubt it's frustrating for him but it's a bit of a leap to all the "it's a plot and the establishment are out to get me" stuff in his video.

Coutts only allow customers with a minimum of £1m as I understand it so it may simply be a case of Farage being a bit short these days. I understand they said that closing his account was a commercial decision which would fit with this.

That said no one (except Stewie) really knows and he may well be right that our Nige has been up to no good. Time will tell guess.
