Howard Cox to stand for mayor as motorists' champion
Discussion
Fair Fuel's Howard Cox is standing as mayor. While I think we need a pro-car candidate I can't get behind him. There is a tinge of climate change denial in what he says and I'm deeply uncomfortable with that. But what I can't handle is that he's standing for Reform UK (nee Brexit Party).
We need someone to counter Khan's war on cars, and if Cox was standing as an independent I'd look to supporting Cox, but as it is he just comes over as being as much of a nutter as the clockwork cyclists on twitter.

Would any pro-car person not have a 'tinge of doubt over climate change' as a matter of course seeing as it will be impossible to reach the current climate change targets let alone future ones without getting rid of them altogether. As for Reform. Khan was elected while a certain J Corbyn was leader. Not sure your party is much of an issue as Mayor but the chances of succeeding as an independent are zero.We need someone to counter Khan's war on cars, and if Cox was standing as an independent I'd look to supporting Cox, but as it is he just comes over as being as much of a nutter as the clockwork cyclists on twitter.

I’d step away from the BBC , Ch4 and the guardian!!We need someone to counter Khan's war on cars, and if Cox was standing as an independent I'd look to supporting Cox, but as it is he just comes over as being as much of a nutter as the clockwork cyclists on twitter.

Khan will win, the tories will never win london again. There will be more Ulez / Congestion Charging / Road Pricing, LTNS, higher parking fees etc etc etc.
great news. its a city not a car park / motorway

Why is it a “war on cars” and not a “campaign for better air quality”?… can’t help but think that it’s just the candidate and party that are the issue here? Surely no one wants a reduction in air quality?
I take great joy reading on fb / next door / twitter about the locals up in arms that some planters are blocking their HUMAN RIGHT to drive. z4RRSchris said:

And it's not just air quality, we spend 4 billion a year on diabetes, if people just moved a bit more the country would be much healthier. Won't happen until we can make walking and cycling more attractive than driving in city centers.

You have to be gullible to think the ULEZ extension is about 'air quality'. The LTN's in my locale do nothing but cause long traffic jams - that can't be good either. The best thing that happened for air quality is when fuel hit £2 a litre - everyone was hypermiling and combining journeys. Not sure that would be a vote winner though ..Vanden Saab said:

Very absolutist. The world doesn't need to get rid of every single ICE car in order to meet climate change targets. Just most of them.
A champion for ICE car enthusiasts is needed to ensure that regulation and law continues to allow for the enjoyment of ICE cars as electric cars and alternatives take over.
