Properly odd this one, thank heavens no casualties and didn't spread to properties.

Wow, car fires can be nasty.

One of our old neighbours had (some else's) car go up next to their house... Specifically next to their gas meter. It made a right mess and set fire to the gas main... We got woken by the tyres exploding!

I seem to remember him telling me that the gas flared off, and this was deemed to be a better outcome by the fire brigade than if their house filled with gas and ignited.

So 13 going up all over the place would be something.

Very local to me, so just baffling people can do this kind of thing. Had to be pre planned. Hope they catch the people responsible

Let's hope they caught the culprit or you might be waking up to the same headline tomorrow.

Is it some sort of incendiary device?

Sometimes "luxury" and SUV cars are arsoned in Germany, too

I have read that all it takes is some barbq lighting cubes placed on the front tires.

Really disgusting.

Something similar happened in Bristol just over a year ago.

I wonder where the unidentified man in the second report is....

It was quite something seeing 6 burnt out cars on the way to work yesterday morning! Discussing it at work, we didn't hear the police helicopter, which surely would be the obvious thing to deploy?

One happened outside a friends house, but the scariest one happened in an archway underneath a building, where a family where sleeping. I'll try and post a link to the video.

Were they specifically luxury / SUVs? I saw a burnt out Discovery on the news. Wonder if it’s Tyre Extinguishers getting ideas above their station. Hate to think what emissions the smoke was kicking out.

Why would they deploy a police helicopter for car fires?

The 3rd sentence in the article suggests otherwise.

No, just 'normal' cars. Saw a Mini, Fiesta, transit, Disco, seemingly random.

Try and catch someone / prevent any more from happening perhaps!? First was around 11:30, the last around 2-2:30am, so wasn't a 5 minute job.

Police heli?
By the time it got there things would have moved on. Also, being night two options...
Sun light ( spotlight) or infra red camera.
Quite costly too. Drones are the way going forward but again very limited at night.
I went up in ours as part of training. Great for daytime. Limited at night. Infra red ok if tracking someone but again limited.
Ours was even limited to daylight use with n use only in serious life and death circumstances. Report sent to Civil Air Authority to justify it.

Not in the same league as that but one night a few weeks ago, 60 plus tyres on the same number of cars were spiked in the neighbouring village. Loads of cctv captures; filed undetectable by the cozzers. Wonder how they would file what would have happened to the perp(s) if caught in the act…

The Wescam MX10 or MX15 they run is pretty effective (think they moved away from Flir Safire just as the coastguard swapped the other way).

The bigger issue for Bournemouth was always the staffing levels and the NPAS servicing issues as the aircraft get older.

A packet of crisps set alight on the front tyre. Doritos even better.
Car front end destroyed in 5 minutes.
Scum bags do it for fun.
Try at home. Frightening.
