The Netflix series regular Adjoa Andoh shared: ‘I think I upset a few people yesterday I was talking about the day and how marvellous it was and then looking at the balcony at the end. ‘And I suddenly went “ooh, it’s so white” – because the day had been so so mixed. I didn’t mean to upset anybody, I just was…’

She was interrupted by broadcaster Paddy O’Connell who said she need not ‘apologise’ and added: ‘You haven’t upset anyone.’

I knew who the poster would be without looking.

All the hallmarks of ‘I need to find something to be angry and woke about’.

It’s bank holiday VS, take a break!

It would be fine to caption this picture with 'they are so black' then?

Ofcom received a number of complains based on her initial comments. So it's fair to say that yes, some were upset by her remarks.

Was she complaining about the lack of black faces in the royal family?

I think some were a bit upset about the racist nature of her comments.

Summary
Adjoah Andoh said something along the lines of "the Monarchy looking so white"
The twittersphere gets very upset
On Radio 4 Adjoah tried to explain and to apologise.
BBC guy said "youve got nothing to apologise for"

You have two opportunities to be "outraged"

1. How DARE she say the "the monarchy looked so white"?
2. How DARE the BBC say she had nothing to apologise for?

I did wonder what the Venn diagram would look like of the sort of people who stuck up for the Essex couple who think it's OK to hang gollies in their pub but who think what Andoh said is definitely racist.

According to the article she was comparing what had, in general, been a very diverse day and then looking at the Monarchy and noticing it was entirely white. Why this was a surprise for her I have no idea. However I am not sure what was "racist" about her comments.

Those people are very easily-offended. It was a strange comment, but not worth getting upset over.

A reporter on the late ITV news on Saturday mused about the lack of diversity on the balcony - seemed to be a bit of a dig at Meghan.

It's not racist, just odd. They are a predominantly white family so what was she expecting to see?

But then imagine the reaction if someone had made a comment about the skin colour of the Japanese or Nigerian royal families.
