Dutch farmer protests
Discussion
Doesn’t appear to be much coverage of this. But the Dutch farmers who make up one of the worlds biggest producers of food are/have been protesting against the government.
They are driving/marching to the Hague
The government are trying to shut down 3000 farms by 2030 for Net zero. under the bases they are the biggest polluters l
The Dutch government have been trying to stop the protests by limiting numbers and changing rules to not allow the protesters to set up.
It’s rumoured they have also borrowed water cannons from the German police. As well as have the mayor of The Hague stating he will have military equipment on standby.
Wonder what the coverage will be. As only things Iv seen about it are on twitter.

I live a few minutes from Dam Square in AMS and have previously seen smaller demos. In a recent poll here the Farmers political party are growing in numbers/voters. They are driving/marching to the Hague

Heading for a showdown.. Compulsory purchases of generations old farms held by traditional Dutch farmers is NOT a vote winner.
Agree - terrible coverage in the news. There was HUGE protest in Brussels. Hardly any news about it

What happening there with Dutch farmers is terrible. I believe it started with insane laws about nitrogen levels in the soil ?Heading for a showdown.. Compulsory purchases of generations old farms held by traditional Dutch farmers is NOT a vote winner.

I have family and friends who live there and I love the Netherlands, but (and i dont really like to use the language of conspiracy nutters, but i will) the government there does have a definite stench of WEF/globalist agenda to it. Now, that might just be my perception from not living there However there is at least one indoor market there (cant remember the name) not far from Kinkerstraat that no business in it will accept cash, its cashless only. Which is crazy.

I was in The Hague this week and spoke to a few people about this. XR are protesting at the same time so there’s some anticipation of trouble.
The debate is an interesting one. The Netherlands is a big European food producer and it needs nitrogen to keep producing at the levels it does. There’s a growing view within the country that they should just produce according to their own needs in order to meet their climate targets. But that’ll affect us all in terms of food prices and have a really and effect on their balance of trade.
It’s another area where Western governments are slavishly adhering to climate targets without working through all the consequences.

Holland one of the locations for the wefs food hubs. The Dutch prime minster is signed up to it and quite proud of it.I have family and friends who live there and I love the Netherlands, but (and i dont really like to use the language of conspiracy nutters, but i will) the government there does have a definite stench of WEF/globalist agenda to it. Pretty sure all western governments have signed up to these nitrogen levels, the Dutch are just the first to start tackling it.
Seems that food produce is going to follow energy then in becoming deliberately more expensive as a result of government policy. No doubt there are many well connected people who stand to benefit. JagLover said:

Going after farmers that is just madness. Thought the world was trying to help and grow them. There's alot of produce from Holland that ends up in our shopping baskets.
Seems bill Gates was right buying up farmland in the USA.
So Bill Gates is one of those who is going to benefit . What was that saying about conspiracy theories being spoiler warnings these days. Seems bill Gates was right buying up farmland in the USA.

Its been years now. Do you think they don't know the consequences of their own policies?. neilr said:

It isn't a conspiracy theory. It's official UN policy, promoted by the WEF, and signed up to by most governments. The nutty conspiracy part is that some of them might see an opportunity for wealth and power in controlling the food supply.I have family and friends who live there and I love the Netherlands, but (and i dont really like to use the language of conspiracy nutters, but i will) the government there does have a definite stench of WEF/globalist agenda to it. Belgium is also enforcing it quite strictly (as was the UK under Mrs Boris with the tree-planting scheme).I saw an article on the BBC last week where water companies were claiming that farmers are postly responsible for river pollution despite themselves "legally' pumping tonnes of raw sewage directly into those same rivers.
The problem we farmers have with these plans is that agriculture is not being treated equally with other polluting sectors of industry.
Someone needs to realise (and quickly!) that dismantling agriculture is extremely stupid, and that it's a serious threat to food supply and security.
What western governments seem to be doing is exporting their problem to other countries (and entrusting food production to those countries). Some EU countries produce considerably more food than their domestic needs, but this supports a whole series of industries - food processing, deep freeze, which all contibute to the economy as a whole.
My grandad used to tell how just after WWII people used to come to the farm actually begging for the chance to buy food. Theft of live farm animals (mostly sheep) is already seriously on the rise.
If we continue to dismantle agriculture, I fear for the future.

I live in Lincolnshire, a farming county and if the Dutch tractors are anything like the ones up here then the end result of a water cannon Vs tractor will be a very clean tractor and an overturned water cannon. They are driving/marching to the Hague

I just googled "farmer protests Brussels" and only saw one uk site covering it (The Independent) in the top 10
Outlook india were on the list though?
Given elections are 2 weeks away, it seems bizarre a major political event like this is not even on the BBC, despite the current obsession with Lineker.
Whenever conspiracy theorists have started going on about wef secret orders to the prime minister, I have always assumed democratic power would hold up against genuinely unpopular policies.
I don't know what the opposition parties are like in the Netherlands- it might be too late for protest candidates to sign up and stand as independents.
