I was a Boris fan, but must admit that this seems more than a little off.
This is what tipped the balance? It's obvious that for some PHers, Boris Johnson is an aspirational character.
However, this thread is about his dad.
Have we got a list of the achievements made by his dad that make him eligible for a knighthood? I suppose being responsible for Boris' existence is enough in Boris' eyes.

Owns a house in Greece and achieved residency/citizenship (I forget which), so despite his son being responsible for Brexit he can benefit from all the freedoms of being inside the EU which are denied to those less able to afford a holiday home? Eric Mc said:

Have a look at his Wiki. However, this thread is about his dad.

If you took off the family connection and you read the stuff on it would you be surprised that they’d been nominated?

I mean it should be so obvious to everyone what a sham world we're all living in now. You have the global elite club taking all the benefits and cash they can grab for themselves, their close family and friends.
It's been happening since forever of course, but I guess the only difference is it's easier to see what's going on now?

i defy anyone to consider Johnson more shamelessly self interested and morally reprehensible than I do. However, this isnt entirely without precedent. Out-going PM's have often honoured family members in resignation honours lists. Clementine Churchill was made a Dame in 1945, Denis Thatcher was - very controversially - made a Baronet in 1990 and Philip May was knighted in 2019. Norma Major was also created a Dame and Cherie Blair a CBE, albeit not in their husband's resignation honours

I suppose given his track record of failed marriages nothing should shock us, but surely marrying his Dad would be a step too far?Timothy Bucktu said:

Yep agree with you there. How the average working person can think that BJ and his gang ever had an ounce of consideration for them is beyond me.It's been happening since forever of course, but I guess the only difference is it's easier to see what's going on now?
I don't know what the solution is, but the whole political system needs a serious shake up.
