The organisation is filled with white people, that's why they are having this drive. It's really nothing to get upset about.

Ok, perhaps I'm not understanding, they are having a diversity drive to attract non white people to the organisation as they are under represented. To that end they have asked non white people to apply.

The outrage is because it's not fair on white people?

Does this then suggest that those from ethnic minority backgrounds are not held to the same standards as white people?

Why are ethnic minorities "under represented" in this organisation? I'd like to know the reason for this.

To be eligible for this internship you must meet all the following essential criteria:

1. You are a UK domicile Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic* student/ graduate/ postgraduate

There is no such thing as 'positive' discrimination just discrimination and as the job advert states applicants must be black/Asian/minority ethnic to qualify for the internship I'd suggest they are on very thin ice with regards discrimination

I absolutely hate positive discrimination and "quotas". It is just simple discrimination.

Having said that I do understand how big organisations end up along this path. Rather than let natural churn and attrition in the workforce take place and adopt equal opportunities policies they feel the need to swing the pendulum the other way because some talking head from some pressure group is going to whine that the government isn't doing enough or the companies aren't doing enough to address the XYZ problem and that we (ie you) must do more to fix the problem.

The EA has done this before about 15 years ago and it made the Daily Mail then as well.

It didn't work then and it won't work now. Until schools and universities start attracting BAME students to do science subjects, the majority of EA roles will continue to be filled by white geography/engineering/science grads.

Also, in 2022, the EA made all it's staff attend a series of discussions/courses on race.

Our head of diversity is a middle age white woman. Most of the diversity and equality team are stereotypical white , female HR types.
