From Belgium where you can request to be topped if 'suffering'....

"In Belgium the law allows for people to choose to be euthanised if they are deemed to be suffering from "unbearable" psychological, and not just physical, suffering that cannot be healed."

She looks pretty disturbed in the photo. frown RIP all involved..

Sad story all round, obviously suffering from some severe mental health issues. I don't have a problem with people being allowed to opt for euthanasia when faced by a life of pain and suffering.

I would have preferred her to have been executed upon conviction myself.

This.

Deciding to get herself put down many years after conviction and after a failed 10 year court battle to blame a phychiatrist is second best.

I would have preferred her to have been kept alive, and suffered every miserable day of her life, tormented by the memory of the evil she inflicted.

Not everyone who does very bad things is evil. Mental illness can cause people to do all sorts of things that a sane person would. That doesn't make them evil. It makes them also a victim. These people aren't locked up as punishment, but to keep society safe from them.

It's hard to know what is best in this situation or any but assisted dying should be an option in the UK. I am watching my grandmother and father slowly die of dementia both in 90s now zero quality of life. If they could have made the choice while still self aware that would have been kinder. Now it's too late and I would not want the law to allow me to make the choice for them now but watching them suffer is soul destroying I do not want my kids to watch me go like that

My mother died exactly a year ago on Tuesday. At the very end she was in a bad way, but luckily I had power of attorney for both health and financial matters, which meant that I could take whatever decisions would have been available to her on her behalf. The end came very quickly, so she did not suffer very long. I don't have any family who I could ask to make those decisions for me when my time comes. But I hope the UK will have progressed enough to allow euthanasia by then so that I don't have to suffer a painful death or a life with no quality.

I must confess it does appear this woman was mad rather than bad. There doesn't seem to be any sane motive behind it, she was just round the bend.
