This has been front page on the BBC and a few other media sites for a couple of days.

I like to think I have a reasonably good idea of what's been in the news and I don't think I can remember even hearing this guys name until the last day or two.

It's obviously terrible and I hope this is taken in the tone it's intended in but a guy killing his family in the US is a pretty regular occurrence.

What am I missing with this particular case and person?

He's rich, a scion of a lauded family in that area and it's a pretty bizarre story, son kills someone on a boat, father kills son and wife, father then employs a hitman to kill himself......it's like Dynasty on steroids. Add in his stealing of poor folk's compensation gained in court to fund his opiod habit and it's an interesting story that will no doubt be a film or mini-series in due course.
