A tragic event which naturally justified acres of news coverage and commentary.
But now the BBC are to make a 3 part Drama about Grenfell.
Exploitation too far ?

No, not really. Seems a reasonable subject for a "true story" drama.

Exploitation of what/whom? Innocent victims, dishonest/negligent contractors, useless politicians?

Is it a case of "milking" or more of bringing to light some (potentially criminally) serious failings?

...is there not a Public Inquiry tasked with doing that?

They've also got a drama out that glorifies Kenneth Noye. The BBC have no shame.

If it covers the failings prior to, on the day, and after the disaster then it will probably struggle to fit into just 3 hours.

Exactly.
BBC News & Current Affairs are well capable to cover it with their tax payers money.

But millions ££ spent on a short glossy drama ?

It's just another 'because BBC' gripe.

It's absolutely shocking, on a par with Hillsborough, and it deserves the maximum attention.

Have you seen the whole thing yet? You're keen.

I think Brinks-Mat is a fascinating topic to have a drama about. Not seen any yet but I'm looking forward to it.

That's a bit keen to defend Aunty, but expected and you've clearly seen the whole thing.

Noye is 'over the moon' with the hapless beeb's portrayal of his life of crime.

I agree. Some topics remain important for years because of what they say and what we can learn from them. Such as Hillsborough (as you say) and (in my view) Stephen Lawrence. Last night I was watching series 3 of The Crown (I'm well up with the latest trends) and learned about Anthony Blunt and his continued employment by the royal household. Still relevant today.

Edited to ask about this thread being put in the TV section. Or do some threads get allowed to stay in NPE because they send out a particular message?

Did you actually read the post you quoted half of? I said I hadn't seen it and asked if the person describing the content had.

News and current affairs is not capable of covering a story like this in full. It can cover some concrete facts but it absolutely cannot put those facts in context or tell the stories of the people that those numbers represent. These stories need more than just data and evidence.

Exactly this, some nonsense about wasting tax payers money etc...

They create/commission TV and it gets aired. Some people watch it. Those that don't want to, generally don't watch it. Ratings and reviews feedback to the BBC as to whether is was a good idea or not.

What is the problem here?
