I don't know enough about him to comment on his approach.
I do know that we so desperately need politicians with actual opinions and beliefs, rather than robots parroting whatever the last opinion poll said.
I think the "food bank" comments he has been attacked for are more nuanced than made out. It should be possible to eat enough while earning a decent wage if you eat cheap home cooked food and don't use take aways and ready meals. I do know that we so desperately need politicians with actual opinions and beliefs, rather than robots parroting whatever the last opinion poll said.

It probably depends on what you define as a decent wage in these days of high housing and fuel costs

Good job he didn’t defect from Labour a few years back and now be appearing to have firm conservative views then. I do know that we so desperately need politicians with actual opinions and beliefs, rather than robots parroting whatever the last opinion poll said.

It's a brilliant interview and well worth listening to. For those that don't have time, the interviewer asked him whether he should be considered dishonest as a consequence of him faking a doorstep interview. His response was to ask the interviewer ten times whether she had ever lied. He is the an MP and deputy chair of the Conservative Party and that was the best he could do.MP Lee Anderson: New deputy Tory chairman clashes with radio presenter https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-nottinghamsh...
My understanding is that he has been appointed as a "working class" person to reflect the working class. Only somebody that has no idea about the working class would think he reflects the working class.
The same Lee Anderson who boasted about how he pays one of his assistants under £30,000 a year, but she doesn't need to use food banks because she manages her money properly.

He didn't mention that her father is Brigadier David Colthup CBE and she went to a £20k a year public school, so isn't exactly a typical low income worker.

He's a loud mouthed ballsy idiot, slim pickings on who is left to pick the role ...IE no one who is not corrupt or wants it
TBF hidden behind all his loud mouthed guff he does make the odd point, about how he would be willing to help constituents if they needed foodbanks with their budgeting, but its probably all talk ... He also admits how he has struggled with money in the past, but whatever he is actually saying is distorted by his aggressive delivery
Then again don't ask him about the death penalty ......"a dead criminal cant commit crimes....so it works"
Loudmouthed local mayor got lucky tbh
Word on the street is hes off to UKIP when the torries implode again

A breath of fresh air and someone who will be an excellent chairman.
I must confess to being a bit surprised at his appointment I thought Boris Johnson should get the job.
Clearly Rishi is fine tuning his top team and selecting those he thinks weill be best. It's often easy when you have a wide range of very good team members to overlook some people in favour of more wildly known names. Rishi hasn't taken this approach.
I say jolly well done Rishi and good luck to Mr Anderson.

Lee Anderson is rather different from the average MP. He doesn't necessarily toe the party line (for example his view on capital punishment), and is very plain speaking. He's not from a privileged background, and has actually done a job outside of politics prior to entering Parliament.
He's an inexperienced MP, one who has and will make mistakes - the incident with Michael Crick was silly and Anderson should probably admit that and admit it was a mistake.
I disagree with him on some topics (capital punishment being one) and strongly agree with him on others. Overall, I think it's refreshing to see someone like him reaching a senior position in politics, and I wish him well. I very much enjoy his appearances on Talk TV where, IMO, he comes across very well.
Sadly for Lee Anderson, he'll lose his seat at the next election, along with the majority of Tory MP's in all but the most solid true blue constituencies.

Being back the death penalty.....f me it's a pub debate after 2 too many. Look I am all for hanging when someone cuts me up, parks over two spaces or blocks the rail line on my commute bur apart from thoes extream examples it's just not worth the debate and I am not the deputy chair of a political party who will be in charge of the party message come the next GE. He absolutely has to tow the line because he is selling the brand. Course seems the toys have lost their brand, labour have not had one since corbyn made that particular one toxic the SNP want to sell fairly tales but not such that people buy them an they have to deliver an the libs are hiding under a rock somewhere mumbling about brexit. He's an inexperienced MP, one who has and will make mistakes - the incident with Michael Crick was silly and Anderson should probably admit that and admit it was a mistake.

His views do not fit with the MSM narrative, so now he has been promoted to a high position in Government the media will now try and bring him down.
It looks like he has what is needed to stand up for himself against the media but there is enough there for the media to feast on and create enough negative headlines that the PM will have to remove him (it may take a few months though).
Overall, Parliament needs more MP's like him but he was in the Parliament that got the Covid response so wrong which has created most of the current problems in the country, so I will be happy to see him lose his job at the next election.
