Universal Hollywood, a theme park in America, has something called Super Nintendo World contained within and their new ride - Mario Kart: Bowsers Challenge - restricts users to those with waist measurements of 40 inches or less. There's a test seat to filter out those ineligible to partake in the service.

For those with rumblings of discontent and a taste for justice, it turns out that girth restrictions on people wishing to partake of certain attractions is already in place. Some establishments have alternate seating for those with greater carriage. Rides are becoming more dangerous as they push the boundaries experience-wise and thus they need to ensure the safety of people availing themselves of such.

Nothing wrong with this IMO.

Shouldn't have to restrict the capabilities of a ride and therefore the enjoyment of others just because some can't restrict what they shove in their gob!

Rides have had minimum and maximum height limits for years so no different really. Getting a harness variable of securing a26" and 40+inch waist securely must be a challenge.

So half the adult population of the USA wouldn't be allowed on the ride . . . Not the best business decision ever made but at least the queue will be shorter for the rest of us biggrin

I went on a German ride a few months ago where everyone was weighed prior and then given a red light or green light.

If you are 5'4 maybe, not if you are 6'4 and a rugby player (6'1 and a 38 before you accuse me of... well I don't know whatever)

the only rugby players I know with 40" waists are proper fat bds. the built fkers over 6 foot are 34-36, pretty low body fat %.

This. When working for Merlin Group doing a risk assessment for a well known theme park, I watched several well built directors going around and around and up and down. I was focussed on shear calculations more than on the operational safety of the rides.

Heavy objects are fine as long as you don't want to stop them quickly. Lateral side to side movements exaggerate wear when load increases on rail derived systems. Service times are the same whereas the passengers all differ in weight and size. I don't do rides anymore as the engineer in me doesn't trust the design or the servicing competence.
