Gillian Keegan having a good old fluffy and comfy chat about the state of schools at the moment with Lorraine on the sofa...

Apparently she wants to solve this problem....and I can see she really is trying very hard...oh and Lorraine says she really hopes she can sort it.

It really does make my blood boil who is running our country.

Before you ask, ITV was on from last night and I don't tune into Lorraine lol.

My opinion on teachers' strikes is, perhaps, an unpopular one, but here it is anyway: teachers are relatively well paid - the 5th highest in Europe according to the OECD. They work fewer hours (officially anyway) than anyone in Europe bar Luxembourg. At a time of financial constraints it is irresponsible of them to strike.

I am sure that teachers have grievances about how schools are run, but then every working person might criticise their workplace. That is no excuse to harm the very children they purport to care about. In my opinion, this strike is politically motivated. Apparently, a starting salary of £30k, an average salary of around £45k (per the OECD), generous pensions and fewer than average working days is not enough. No, they want their pay to be inflation proofed and are prepared to punish children in pursuit of their aims. Grrr.
