Must have been a nasty way to go and equally unpleasant for those that had to rescue him frown

And we're still making jokes about dead people.

Stuck under it for three hours and a major incident from the reporting.

As well as the victim spare a thought for the poor sods who had to get them out.

What a horrible way to die. Traumatic for the victim's family and all involved.

First time I've ever reported a post. Very distasteful and absolutely not something to be cracking jokes about IMO.

Indeed, some people have no shame.

Someone is going to be in trouble over this, not just for the incident but what led to it.

Obvious starting questions will be why no (working) safety interlocks on the equipment, and no safety cutouts, plus why the hell does a simple pop up structure need to have such overpowered hydraulics that it can cause an outcome like that?

A previous incident was caused by one coming up despite a heavy obstruction.

I commented about the lack of class to joke about a person's demise. My post was deleted as I quoted the offending post.

What the hell is the point of these things, surely if you need a loo, build a fking loo. Pop up loos is curing the problem that doesn’t exist.
Secondly, people are suggesting he was crushed underneath it, poor bugger. It is not more likely that it descended with the door open and him half in and half out? I don’t see how they can access the underneath, surely it’s from in the device?
Finally, why is anyone (presuming here) working alone on a device like this?
Poor guy and his family etc.
of course, ‘lessons will be learned’, I’m sure, but no one will be held to account.

Don't think there's doors, just (3?) scallops out of the sides? And I think it telescopes down to half height as it descends.

I think you get service access mostly via a manhole at the side? Beyond that lift/stripdown.

A tragic incident. Any more details on how it actually happened? Operator error, system fault, Darwin at work?

Was it one like this?

Awful way to go, and completely unnecessary. Why the hell does London need pissoirs that telescope into the ground? What a waste of money. What’s wrong with having simple ones that are there all day, much more convenient, vastly less expensive and not likely to kill anyone. Whoever signed these off needs sacking.

Do you really have to have what a joke is explained to you?

I notice the BBC article has been pulled though.

Which fact needs straightening?
