Apologies if a thread has been set up already but what's the deal with this: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-64388...

It keeps getting headline priority on the Beeb website, but I'm failing to understand why its considered of national (even regional) importance?
Any ideas?

Can only assume there is more to the story than the media are allowed to broadcast to the public?

I think its primarily the concern for the new born baby.

But might be the 'old boys club' with aristocratic family using their connections to get the BBC to cover the story.

I think I share concerns for the baby.

I’d not heard of the story until opening this thread. I don’t really know what to say about the individuals concerned and the developments thus far. It’s like an implausible plot from a novel I wouldn’t read.

I hope they’re found swiftly and all are well.

I get the concerns for the baby (headline news though?)

But why are the couple moving around the country, clearly trying to avoid being detected?

The babies father is a convicted sex offender and they are extremely concerned for the childs welfare.

But yeah, BBC, connections, 'old boys club' blah blah blah.

The story is covered elsewhere, it’s a very strange one but not nearly as strange as using it to attack dear old Auntie, this place is nuts sometimes.

Seems a perfectly reasonable story to report. BBC main England news page also includes 'Pub Shooting Victim had happy life says Vicar' which is hardly news at all. Anyone complaining about that?

In this case 'sex offender' seems to mean a conviction at age 14, 34 years ago, so in itself does not make him any sort of monster now, but of course he may be.

It was a long time ago but he has been on the sex offenders register in the UK since 2010.

I’m going to make a prediction here

there will be way way more to this story than what has been released to the public domain

Let’s hope they are all found safe and well and we don’t end up hearing about a tragedy

I heard about this last week on Shelagh Fogarty’s radio show and was surprised it wasn’t wider publicised but I guess the police were trying to limit exposure in the hope they don’t go to ground. The couple apparently have a large sum of cash with them and we’re paying cash for Airbnb places, food, survival gear etc so I assume the police have had to publicly make an appeal to flush them out. Maybe they have a safe place or friends helping them out but the statement from the police on the radio said She hasn’t spoken to her family for years apparently.

Hardly a prediction laugh People with nothing to hide don't run from a broken down vehicle and then move around to avoid being tracked.

With all the CCTV electronic tracking mobile phones etc I am amazed they have not been found. Which does lead me to assume more is going on here.

The last BBC article I read had a recent cctv image. Are we perhaps assuming baby died and they are hiding from authorities to avoid blame (fragile mental state birth alone etc)

Strangely this was just gaining traction in the media …. Then something happened somewhere else to someone else

Maybe Kay Ghouley can report live from the south coast now

Sky News reporting that the couple have been arrested in Brighton. Apparently the baby is still missing, which doesn't sound good.

Apparently Police are searching Stanmer Park which is just outside Brighton and roughly about 5 miles circumference with woods on the perimeter, but is very popular with dog walkers so not the easiest place to hide.

Just on another thought when they were buying food with cash did that include baby food?
