If that isn't thrown out immediately, the world has gone mad.
The lack of personal responsibility these days, and the desire to always blame someone else for blatant stupidity is ridiculous.
As much as that's my first instinct isn't there something in UK law where if, for example, the pub you're in know or think that you're driving they aren't allowed to serve you if they know you're pissed and they think you might drive? The lack of personal responsibility these days, and the desire to always blame someone else for blatant stupidity is ridiculous.

Pretty sure they’re not allowed to serve you if you’re intoxicated at all. https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2003/17/part/...

Sale of alcohol to a person who is drunk
(1)A person to whom subsection (2) applies commits an offence if, on relevant premises, he knowingly—
(a)sells or attempts to sell alcohol to a person who is drunk, or
(b)allows alcohol to be sold to such a person.
I’m sure one of our learned friends will correct me. (1)A person to whom subsection (2) applies commits an offence if, on relevant premises, he knowingly—
(a)sells or attempts to sell alcohol to a person who is drunk, or
(b)allows alcohol to be sold to such a person.

The reaction should have been
“I’m so ashamed of myself that I drove drunk and ended up destroying someone’s home”
Instead it’s
“It’s not my fault, the bar shouldn’t have served me”
Welcome to 2023
Often the case with drink drivers, always someone else’s fault or more so they fail to take accountability for their own actions. Like they were forced to drive instead of making their own (stupid) decision. “I’m so ashamed of myself that I drove drunk and ended up destroying someone’s home”
Instead it’s
“It’s not my fault, the bar shouldn’t have served me”
Welcome to 2023
And of course when caught ‘you’ve ruined my life’.

Years back my brother was up for speeding and was facing a ban so I got roped into giving him a lift to the magistrates. Whilst waiting I overhead some mouth breather on a drink driving charge telling someone that he'd only had 4~5 pints of Stella and it was 'the pills' that had put him over the limit, fk knows what pills he was taking to have that effect?!

Sister in law was sitting at the bar in her local club, the bouncers ran past to break up a fight, one of them bumped into her, knocking her off the bar stool. She fell on the floor awkwardly, hitting her neck on the foot rest bar thing at floor level breaking her neck a bit. She claimed compo off the bar who claimed it was nothing to do with them and that she was pissed, her solicitor asked why, if they knew she was pissed, they continued serving her and suggested they should write a sizeable cheque or be reported for breaking the law and potentially losing their licence.
