David Crawford murder

I am really struggling to see how this is not murder?

Hunted down in 2 cars this chap, drove into him, dragged him under the van for a 1km then drove off leaving him dead. How's that not premediated murder?

All three were charged with joint enterprise murder meaning the offenders acted together with a common purpose. Joint enterprise is a very complex topic in itself and has faced interesting challenges in court recently but for this purpose we don't need to go there.

Murder requires the unlawful killing of another human with the intention to kill or cause really serious harm.

During Parry's trial the jury accepted that in running his van into the back of Crawford's bike he did so with the intention to knock him off but not kill him or cause him really serious harm. He did however accept that actions caused Crawford death. Because of that he was guilty of manslaughter and not murder.

Because of the joint enterprise murder was not an option for the two remaining defendants.

Think its this bit i have trouble with, if you wanted to knock someone off you would hit them once, or push them off the road perhaps.

You wouldn't hit them at speed (you see in the video he braces, but doesnt slow) then drive on for another 1km, before the dead man slides out and you drive off.
