I don't live in Scotland nor do I frequent strip clubs. Although it's kind of funny that the sort of women on the council that want to ban strip clubs are the same women you wouldn't want to see strip off hehe

I take it they are also going to ban Magic Mike style acts and the Chippendales. As an adult male I'm sick of my body being ogled and objectified by women.

The UK is a strange place, Edinburgh council bans strip clubs but a few miles down in Glasgow there are plenty of them. Get the boat over to Northern Ireland and strip clubs don't exist and the one that did was picketed by fundamentalist Christians for months until it closed. On the flip side head down over the border to Sheffield and Birmingham were in between a VW dealership and a Howdens you can enter a building pay the fee and go hammer and tong at a trio of consenting women for hours all regulated and legal. Do the same in NI and you risk 6 months imprisonment and a fine.

Only ugly women object to strip clubs.

Men get a raw deal.

Anymore OP? I’ve nearly got a line of bingo here.

Meanwhile here in Western Australia the "skimpies" are still on, where scantily clad females serve behind several bars in the Perth area. There are several gentleman's clubs and adult venues in various places and it's not illegal for someone to charge for sexual services if they do so in an approved venue.

I'm not sure if this means Western Australia is behind the times, less "PC" or just hasn't caught up yet?

During 2021 when we had zero covid cases and were carrying on as normal, it was quite amusing when the government spokesperson announced the first case in a long time had visited a "massage parlour" and they were unsure if all patrons had checked in as they were supposed to at the time. Of course the gentleman had only gone for a "massage"

There are 3 in glasgow (was given on a different story on this topic) but too less only (first hand experience). Not sure if this latter point makes any difference to them retaining a licence.

Come to Victoria and (from memory) sex workers were able to continue working through the lockdowns, didn't have to be vaccinated for COVID19 but their customers did have to be vaccinated.

I sort of wonder if that strangely means we have it right in the UK. I've been out in Soho and the glow of strip clubs seemed to add to the buzz of the place, in struggling areas it often makes the place seem even more down on its arse- like bookies and charity shops.

They always hunt out the fattest and worst looking feminist for those type of videos lol. Visited all them in Edinburgh on the multiple stag dos we've went on. Security guards. Probably the safest bars in the city. No fighting in them. The way the feminist says exploiting there body's? I'd say they are exploiting weak willed mens wallets.

Not long ago they shut all the saunas down. No more legal brothels, so the strip club visitors couldn't pop down the road to finish the job lol

Well done Edinburgh. I'm sure that will stop people wanting and paying for sexual services. I'm just amazed nobody thought of it before.

I worked for a company that printed a report in Northern Ireland on the industry. The QUB research showed that in 7 years since paying for sexual services became an offence the numbers of adverts had gone up 350%.

I’m sure banning strip clubs in Edinburgh will make it all safer

This is nothing new though is it, Chester has raged war on its only lap dancing bar and has since shut it down.

I believe Bristol is trying to get rid of all its gentlemen's clubs and I recall Manchester having similar ambitions, although not sure if it is still its aim.

What really I do not understand is Hooters. I believe it wants to expand into UK but is having trouble getting licences, but what I do not understand is why it can have its licence refused on the grounds on how the ladies are dressed?

I have never been to a lap dancing club, on my list but never got round to it yet.

If the alternative to strip clubs and brothels is street prostitution I'm not sure that is a net benefit to women. Regardless if what campaigners say.

It’s all a bit Mary Whitehouse & draconian.

Basically banning something they don’t agree with under the banner of exploitation.

Perhaps they should ask the women involved, as I’m not convinced they’ll be happy losing their (probably decent) income by exploiting men thinking with their dicks.

Are strip clubs basically just brothels then? Pardon my ignorance I've never been to one, always assumed there was some degree of crossover.

But yeah while I personally find the whole setup a bit sad and very icky whatever you champion into becoming illegal just becomes controlled entirely by crime syndicates and worse for nearly everyone.

No and assuming that strippers are prostitutes is a really good way to find out what a bouncer opening a door with your head feels like.

Never seen the appeal of strip clubs, but then I am Yorkshire born, and tight as a nuns chuff! Throwing money away is something I can do easily on my cars.

Can't believe people get so riled over these clubs. As previously mentioned the only exploitation that goes on in those places is relieving guys of a lot of money. I last went in one on a stag do many years ago and one of the guys he was one of those tightly leashed married guys went completely crazy and did a grand in about 1.5 hours. A few of us were quite content to sit and have a beer it was pretty funny to see these guys that looked like they had never seen an attractive woman before just getting totally rinsed. Titivation is not a crime and I think these councils should oversee the venues and 100% make sure the women are looked after but if anything they should be looking at spending caps for the poor sods that go in there!

Don't see the connection. Strip clubs aren't like a methadone clinic for people who would rather be out raping and murdering and were available when this guy decided to try some.

You're a strong independent woman, you can do whatever you want.

I'd like to be a stripper

Oh no, you can't do that. We don't agree in doing that.

It certainly does tick the usual boxes.
