Audacious motorcycle theft and waving a machete around
Discussion
I can't see anything online that suggests a false imprisonment charge was made against the guard.
On the face of it, it would not stand a hope in hell of sticking, given the clear video footage making the context of the gates being closed clear.
It's sad that wielding a machete during a robbery gets only a suspended sentence, but maybe they couldn't prove who was doing the waving.
My bike was stolen in not entirely dissimilar circumstances (a bike 2 up came around the work car park checking it out for bikes, snapped the steering lock in seconds, and pushed it away using the other bike as power)
Our security guard was so annoyed he had been called away for something else as her have gone out and snapped them in half (he's a big chap and the crims were skinny kids)
I now have proper locks on it, but crime like this is just what some people have chosen for their job.
The annoying thing is they'd get only a fraction of the bike's value.

In other cases, the presence of a weapon gets a conspiracy to commit armed robbery charge for all members. Not sure why it was let go here.
