Do you identify as British?
Discussion
Yes. Born in England, always lived in England (when resident in the UK - I have lived abroad). Of English and Irish ancestry (with Welsh and Scottish in the mix if you go a generation or two further back) but have always felt most comfortable describing and identifying myself as British. I don't really feel any lessened sense of kinship, shared history, shared values etc. with people on the other side of the UK's internal borders, any more or less than I do with people over the county boundaries within England.

Just seen on the news today. Identify? Surely it is factual, born in the UK then yes; not born in the UK no.
TX.
Not sure not being Born in the UK means you aren't British. TX.
There will be many people that weren't born in the UK that consider themselves British/English/Welsh/Scottish/Iirsh.
Or is this just a bizarre comment on the word 'identify'?

These days, if you say you're English you'll be arrested and thrown in jail!
Yep, happens all the time, I've only just got out from saying it yesterday, and I'm waiting for the police to turn up after I said it this afternoon.limpsfield said:
