TFL ban adverts promoting Qatar

On the one hand it makes a refreshing change for somebody to put their money where their mouth is but perhaps less so when it's public / taxpayer money rather than their own that they're using for virtue signalling.

AIUI TFL gets a big subsidy from the Taxpayer. So would it not be the case that the more money they can generate themselves the less of a subsidy they'll need?
I would imagine that any ad space they don't sell to Qatar, they will sell to someone else. I would also imagine the subsidy is 'how much we can give you' rather than 'how much do you need', ie. it is decided by the council's budget rather than tfl'sCountdown said:

I've noticed buses in London with adverts completely in Chinese with no UK text, seems odd that TFL will sanction that but then ban Qatar.
Indeed. It's a huge can of worms. Completely unsurprising given the state of our Capital and all the political shenanigans that appear to be du jeur, nowadays.
Haven't been for years, and it was a nest of left wing wasps back then, goodness knows how it is now?
Shame! Or shame?
Whatever, I will never visit the Capital city again in my lifetime, which, no doubt, will be a relief for those that enjoy their socialist republic utopia.

Slightly O/T but I think London's great. The number of theatres, museums, galleries, and basically "things to do or see is umatched anywhere else in the UK".Haven't been for years, and it was a nest of left wing wasps back then, goodness knows how it is now?

Not interested in a provider of public transport acting as a censor or social commentator though. If, however, they want to do that, then they should be even handed in their application. So best start refusing to host advertisements for the 60 odd countries where same sex relationships or activities are still illegal.
Otherwise it very much looks like "another blatant example of double standards and virtue signalling to score cheap political points"

Are you planning to visit after your lifetime? Are you due to be buried here? If not, I'm not sure the words "in my lifetime" are required. It's a blow for us, but us Londoners are a resilient lot and we'll get over it.
