This sounds nasty.
London Fire Brigade institutionally misogynist and racist - report
Not sure if it's isolated or tip of the iceberg a bit like perception is that the Met seem to have a lot more bad apples than other Police forces.

Wow, I was expecting to read about some non pc jokes, but it’s hard to believe anywhere like described in that article still exists in Britain. London Fire Brigade institutionally misogynist and racist - report

I’m not sure setting out to officers in future what’s right and wrong, can deal with officers who think it’s ok to sneak into womens bedrooms looking for sex toys when doing house visits to advise on smoke alarms.

Yeah it's hard to believe in 2022, it reads like something from 20 odd years ago! I’m not sure setting out to officers in future what’s right and wrong, can deal with officers who think it’s ok to sneak into womens bedrooms looking for sex toys when doing house visits to advise on smoke alarms.

Is anyone really surprised at this?
Honestly yes.I don't know much about the fire service but I'd assumed it was a professional organisation and the stuff in that article goes way beyond anything anyone could consider "banter" or "pc gone mad" or what have you.
It's abhorrent behaviour in any workplace.
Appalling that this exists in 2022, disappointing some don't see it as serious.
FBU claiming this is something they've been highlighting for years and morale is low due to (amongst other things) poor work life balance.
I wonder if they'll be supportive of disciplinary action against their "members" if they're found to have behaved in the way outlined in the report. As for poor work life balance, they work 2 days, 2 nights and have 4 days off. I'd say that's a better balance than most people get.

Some odd comments.
Do racists and misogynists get a free pass because they put out fires?
Very odd. Do racists and misogynists get a free pass because they put out fires?
This report should be shocking to anyone decent. And yet it doesn't seem to be, does it?
You can only speculate that those wanting to downplay or make excuses are perhaps perpetrators?

Yes. I didn't bother reading the BBC article this morning as I assumed it was some over dramatic conclusion because a man once held the door open for a woman or something. I didn't believe that this type of stuff still goes on - I certainly hoped this to be the case.I can but hope these are isolated incidents and it's not as institutional as it appears.
